I recently upgraded my old UnitiQute 1 to the latest firmware (now on 4.9.40).
It now emits two behaviours I had never seen previously.
I have MP3 files on a USB stick and when using the “iPod” input they play directly through the Qute’s codecs very well.
Last week, three out of 88 of the MP3 files performed a hiccup after approximately 4.7 seconds, before restarting from the beginning of the file and playing it correctly from beginning to end.
To put it another way, for (only) these files, the first 4.7 seconds plays twice consecutively.
It is entirely reproducible with these files.
The files play fine from my laptop and VLC (and other media players).
As a test, I transcoded the files into OGG (using Audacity) and the UnitiQuite played them normally from beginning to end.
Is this a known issue? I am happy to provide one of the MP3 files should anyone want to perform deep diagnostics.
Many thanks.
Do they have a particularly large album art attached to the files? Do you know the pixel size ofd the album art (mp3tag app will show you)
The cover image size is 295392 bytes.
(I am not sure about the pixels).
What is strange is that two files with the same image size (same image appears on other devices) from the same provider (Amazon), one of them haves the 4.7 second hiccup, and the other does not.

If your UnitiQute 1 has the 2D streaming board (which I expect) and not the 3D streaming board (you can look at “about” in the app to check) then you shouldn’t have it on 4.9 firmware as it’s not compatible.
Whether you can recover the situation by reinstalling 4.8 I am not sure, but that’s probably what I would try.
Thanks for your suggestion. I don’t know much about 2D versus 3D boards. Maybe you can help me determine exactly what is in my UnitiQute box?
Here is the product information from my Uniti

Thanks.
Well that one has the 3D card as you can see from the line entries saying 3D on them. So it must have had an upgrade at some stage. That’s very good news!
Having said that, apart from that you are fine on 4.9 firmware, I don’t know why you have a problem playing your MP3s.
