Hi everyone and hope all is well. What’s the craic with the Unitiqute 1?? Just looking to add a cheap set up to my bedroom and wondered about the control of it. Is it possible to use an Android phone/tablet app or just iPhone apps? Do Naim still even have an app for it?? I know I can work around it, but just interested. The one in sale has the new boards fitted and a screen. Thanks any info would be class.
You use a physical remote, that’s the easiest way.
But yes the Focal/Naim app will work fine. But unless it has a 3D board fitted, it would be very limited for streaming purposes.
Haha, yeah I get that. I was meaning for using Qobuz. Will an Android device be ok?? Not really wanting to use Bluetooth
It doesn’t support qobuz, but tidal yes.
You can add qobuz support via other means eg bubbleupnp software or another streamer plugged into the back.
Ok. I think it has it fitted. How would I know this?? Are the boards fir 24/96??
The 3rd revision is 24/192.
You can only really tell by looking through the on screen menu, or the Naim app to see the settings screen.
I thought that, I can always ping a wiim Mini through the back or use bubble upnp
If you want to use Qobuz , I would get something like this
And attach it
If I move next year I am thinking about doing the same , but with UnitiQute2 and using it as a headphone amplifier
I use an Android phone with my UQ1 (with an updated streaming board)
Our UQ runs our living room TV sound. I use a couple of ways to interact with it. The remote for source selection and volume settings.
I use the Naim app for volume as well, if I can’t be bothered to get up and find the remote I also use the Naim app for radio duties and UPnP listening to my local network audio files.
Lastly I use BubbleUPnP, running on my phone and a local network connected Mac, to provide Qobuz.
Works fine. I invested in a service for it when it was relatively new to me, new screen, streaming board and caps. That took it to almost the cost of a used Atom, but should see it last years, and I like to keep old stuff running and well looked after.
I still love my UQ1. I have the old streaming board with only 24/96 capability. As others have stated you can stream upnp from a server app.
But streaming is not native for online sources like qobuz/tidal. I use a raspberry pi with a pi2/aes board and it’s part of my Roon ecosystem.
The amp in that UQ1 is just so fun to listen too. This year I changed my speakers for Totem Loon’s bookshelf and use them near Field in my office.
I just wanted a wee easy system in my bedroom for long lay ins. Just have it set up with a Wiim Mini so I can use Qobuz. Sounds great and will do the trick. Runs through the app on my phone. Easy and no fuss for the restful mornings.
