Unitiqute power switch problem

Quite pleased with this little beauty, dead screen or no.

One niggle is a touchy power switch though… it needs a fair bit of wiggling until it stays on.

I’d remove the guts from the case & inspect but I don’t have the necessary tools for unbuttoning the screws on the feet.

Open to suggestions… located in Canada!

The distributor should be able to fit a new power switch very easily. It does need to be the right one used by Naim though with the integrated fuse tray. So they might have to order it.

Go via an authorised dealer to arrange for the repair and get a quote. Depending on age, a recap might be beneficial too.

Agree with the service recommendation, I had mine serviced when I had its screen and streaming board replaced, several capacitors and a corroded USB cable were replaced.

Hopefully they wouldn’t charge the service plus repair price in your case @Sbcinternational

Thanks much for the recommendation.

Quite pleased with the little box other than this niggle, which is getting worse.

I’d sure like to know what tool I need for opening up the case; a switch repair ought not to require sending it off for a month or two … which is what the local Naim retailer has suggested to be the case.

Simple though it may be, un authorized repairs cannot ne discussed here and repairs that don’t appear on the hisyory sheet Naim have for each serial number drastically devalue things.

I know it’s frustrating, and gets more so the more technically proficient you are.

The switch will need replacing with an exact model type, not just with one of the 300 compatible ones on the market.

Do you have a good relationship with the dealer? If they have taken plenty of money off you over the years, they might give you a loaner of some sort.

Thanks feeling Zen…

An update… a closer look reveals all it took to strip the case from the innards was appropriate Allen keys.

Nothing glaringly wrong with the switch… off to service it goes…
