My Unitiserve has failed for the fourth time in 12 years.
Previously it was the hard drive and the Cmos battery which my dealer was able to do.
I had an unexpected living room fuse being tripped which switched off all the electrical devices in the living room including the Unitiserve and Synology Nas.
Unitiserve now does nothing. No green light at the front or the ethernet cable light flashing. It is completely dead. Switching it on and off does nothing, no sounds or lights.
The power supply is completely cold and I’m suspecting its a problem with the power supply…. Any thoughts?
I don’t believe there is a case fuse. Likely your power supply has failed. If you can measure the voltage then you can check. Otherwise your dealer (or any electronics repair place) could do so.
No it’s not actually. The US power supply is an in-line box (from memory about 8cm x 4 cm x 2cm) and a significant point is that there is a substantial ferrite slug on the cable from the power supply to the US. But it is external to the main unit.
The oblong box is a 12 volt switched mode power supply. There is a ferrite ring on the output cable, but that’s quite small, maybe 3 cm or so long and 1.5 cm in diameter.
Edit: Re the photo, I don’t think my US power supply had that large a ferrite box in it. But it was quite a few years ago that I managed to sell it on, so I may be misremembering.
Yes I know all that David…! I was merely aiming to show the OP a couple of images re the original PS cable for the US as well as responding to your earlier post….though, you seem to have gone from 8cm to 3cm in two posts…!
But yes, that’s the original box that contains the ferrite ring…my US SSD was one of the last serial# that came out of the UK……
But that was on the plug, side and no doubt there wont be anything wrong with that bit, OP could risk purchasing another 12 volt power supply, they are hardly rare, Amazon will sell you one for 30 quid.
Yeah, thats the power supply I have.
Its not the end of the world as I have a Nas as a backup. I’ve contacted my dealer to ask if he can send me a power supply so I can see if its power supply that’s the problem…
Thanks to everyone who responded!
