Unity Lite: Firmware update without display?

Hello,
I am new here and would kindly ask for some assistance:
Device: Unity Lite
Two issues:

  1. The display has been completely dark for several years (not a problem, we control the system via the app)
  2. The radio no longer works and requires a firmware update to 4.9 (and this is the actual problem)

My question:
Is there a way to do the firmware update without a visible display?
I couldn’t find an update function on the app.
Replacing the display would be quite expensive, and I don’t really want to do it just for the update.

I would be extremely grateful for any advice or help.
Best regards
Andy

You can do the firmware update without the screen. In fact I did exactly that with my Unitilite just a few months back.

You have to download the update to a PC or Mac and do the update from there. It’s easy enough to do but you should read the instructions really carefully and do exactly what it says. You can get the update from Naim’s website. It’s the same with or without the screen by the way.

I would just add to David’s advice that once the update appears to have completed (according to the updater on your computer) you should wait a while before you touch the streamer. I found that sometimes it would automatically go through a restart process which you would be unaware of without the screen.

Exactly so. It should always go through a restart at the end of the install process and so I usually leave things until I can see it in the Naim app again.

Thank you so much for your kind help, David and Chris

All download links triggered serious security alerts on my current PC and notebook and were blocked.
But on my oldest notebook (approx. 12 years old), I was actually able to download and install the software and transfer it to Unity Lite (first 4.6 and then 4.9).

And the radio function is now actually working again

Thanks again and best regards, Andy

Glad it worked out. You didn’t need to do 4.6 first, but it won’t have done any harm.
