An NDX2 with Olive gear works perfectly well.
NDX2 into 252 and SNAXO 3x250 olive user here.
If at all possible I would go for an NDSas the DAC with the PS you can afford. My reason being that the upgrade path, overtime, is significant going all the way up to 2 x PS555.
There are maybe 15 or more Nd5xs2 with Ndac users here. Apart Snarfy, no one had issues with it. The Ndac is definitely the way to go, then add a ps later to it.
Or a different dac, as Chord TT , but it won’t be a Naim sound. However it’s worth trying, some prefer it.
An Ndx2 bare is inferior to Nd5xs2 into Ndac, lots of threads on that.
If budget, the best is Nd555, and before 333/300.

Someone mentioned adding a PS to a ND5 SX2 but looking at this comparison list on the Naim site it looks to me it’s not an option.

That is correct, but what may have been suggested is an ND5XS2 with an nDAC then the PS can be added to the nDAC for that extra boost (not the ND5XS2)

I have 52/SC/135’s like you. I did have the ND5SX2 with an NDAC but have ended up with the NDX2 and XPS DR. Sounds great and I am happy, I had the chance to test ND5XS2 with NDAC against NDX2 (no psu) and I preferred the NDX2 other people have had different experiences, they both sound great and doubt you would be disappointed with either.
