Nice tip and your post has reminded me to do mine.
And adding to Simon’s advice, if your volume control develops a crackly sound as you rotate it, rapidly spinning it from end to end several times will often clear it. (hpHowever if you are lucky, the periodic movement SiS recommended might prevent this crackly state developing in the first place,)
