PS. You do not need to look far to find a pre-loved 252…
Thank you for the correction, Richard - and my apologies for getting my facts wrong (again!).
Well, I got the telling off that was due to me!
Sorry Graham55
Couldn’t resist a leg pull as you mentioned the same thing before😂
Only the last time Richard had a good laugh apparently.
I think that I am probably on the naughty step until someone else transgresses!
With the new Falcon LS3/5A gold badge which I would love to try but can’t . Quite right too though
Sorry for spamming Dans thread but yes of course the 252 is the best preamp in the world😂
If the 252 is as good or better than a late 52 I would be happy with that. Could sell off or trade in my Supercap 2 and get Supercap DR as well. The only Olive I have is 82 and CDS2. As I have Supercap 2 and XPS2 for CDS2.
I have seen a 2018 for £13750 and an older one for £11k. Not seeing any new genuine 552s for £11k. There are some dodgy looking ones which seem underpriced?!
Is the 252 better than the 52? Anyone compared late POTs 8 serviced 52 vs 252?
Want to do something with the pension fund on hifi but not too much at moment. I can stretch to a 52 or 252 and maybe few LP tweaks.
I am not aware of Naim ever making a product that was worse than the one it replaced…
Different, yes, maybe - not not ‘worse’…

I use LP12 for quality listening. I have around 500 LPs and maybe 50 singles. Prefer vinyl but NDS gets used most and then CDS2.
But nothing like quality vinyl session. Is my turntable tired or lacking? No.
I just want more!
Interesting @Igel and what @Devraj says about Armageddon. I am not changing the Cirkus or Kore. I upgraded to those and prefer the sound.
Changing tonearm to Ekos 2 is on the cards.
It seems to me old school sound vs more controlled modern Radikal 1 or 2 and Karousel.
My turntable is somewhere in middle with Kore, Cirkus and Lingo 1.
Thanks for all the support about my cancer diagnosis. I acknowledge and thank you all. It’s important to put this in perspective. I have had an op, chemoradiation therapy but it is not gone. It’s being monitored. I am single with 4 kids and have lots of different priorities. The Naim/Linn system is my escape, pride and joy. It makes me happy and always has done when playing my favourite music. Thanks again. You are all amazing!
I can strongly recommend a good NAC 252 with Supercap DR. Been very happy with that combination for some years now, excellent ‘bang for buck’.
I imagine that swapping your Akito for an Ekos 2 will be a substantial upgrade. Will you treat yourself to a new Dynavector cartridge too?
I had two XX2 Mk IIs, but switched to a Te Kaitora Rua, which is special indeed.
The pair makes alot of sense. Advantage of 252 is AV bypass system which I could use for movies as well. Just swap out 135s and get 300DR and CDS3 and all black boxes. Lol.
NO I am only joking. Love CDS2. Maybe get CD555 instead and 500 non DR. Goodbye CB and Olive
I didn’t really want to post, having no real advice about the system upgrades, but fwiw had wished you well in my head, should have just posted this anyway. Wishing you a full recovery, and good luck with the upgrade decisions
@Dan_M many years ago I borrowed a 252 long before the DR appeared against my then 82 with 2x HC, I kept the 82 had more excitement, drive and a real foot tapper.

The 252 with a SCDR is way better and IMHO a superb pre, one could stop there.
