Upgrade next steps

Much as I love my XS3, I am not sure it is right for where you are aiming for. The SN3, with or without upgrades, may be all you need.

an alternative amplifier, cheaper and to my cloth ears more dynamic and more soulful than the SN3 is the Cambridge EXA100. worth consideration for your room.

I would say you need to be looking at a pre/power amp rather than just adding NAP200 or going for. Supernait 3. Alternatively you could look at easier to drive speakers more suited to your larger room and stick with your Nait XS3. This would be my inclination as going for a pre/power amp, or even a NAP200, would mean that the ND5XS2 is starting to get out of its depth and you will then be into the realms of needing to upgrade the source as well to maintain proper balance. Changing the speakers for something more appropriate for your electronics and your new room seems the simplest thing to do.

Indeed. One is in danger of heading into mullet territory here if not going down the ‘source first’ route first. Something like a pair of NEAT Mystique Classics would really show what an XS system is capable of, in terms of system balance, as is.
