Not quite .. the oversampling reconstruction algorithm is only used when feeding the internal DAC chips, as it forms part of the reconstruction filter.
The SHARC processor when in digital audio mode creates SPDIF framing, as well handle fixed resampling if required.

I find this debate PSU vs DAC pretty interesting and the answer isn’t really straightforward in my opinion. I’ve recently heard the NPX300 with an NSS333. Yes, you hear the improvement, soundstage and textures are better without a doubt, but I sense a DAC with proper interconnects might give you more for the same price tag (or even less). I’d really like to explore this a bit more. I’ve also tested some Ideon DACs, I’ve always been very impressed and somehow I feel the DAC path might be more satisfying, at least for me.

Thought I’d already commented on this, but had not.
I actually got my xps-dr before I got the ndx2, so never really ran the ndx2 bare. I bought this combination on the recommendation of a friend. But the xps did like to eat fuses. Although to be fair on one occasion it was my fault, as when i rebuilt the system I put a power cord into the ndx2 and xps.
Pretty much everyone who has tried it, recommendations a 555 or 555dr. I had the chance of an 8 year old one for £2750, so grabbed it. The change was instant. I felt like the xps had not been pulling its weight. I have since had Darran service the 555dr, so it is ready for another 10 to 12 years work. I sold the xpsdr and paid for half the 555.
So, if you can get a 555 or 555dr for good money, my experience says this is a good, albeit not cheap upgrade.

I used multiple combinations. Only ndx2, then with xps dr and finally with 555 ps. With a better power supply the dac in the ndx2 works better, but again it was not what I expected. In the end I bought a lampizer atlantic trp3 connected via coax to ndx2, digital out. A completely different presentation, a bigger sound stage, you can feel the presence of the tubes, the reproduction has become silkier, more organic,…

My Streamer for a while now is a Linn Akurate DSM3 with Utopik ps. An NDX2 became available near me for a decent price so I decided to go for it . Initial impressions vs the DSM were , more powerful bass and good groove ….but veiled in the midrange and top end . I use an Audiolab 9000CDT into the streamer using its dac . The transport took a backward step into the NDX2 vs ADSM.
Forward to today and ive digitalled out of NDX2 into the Katslyst ADSM3……mmmm.Nice blend of strengths .
Qobuz connect is a plus for the NDX2 vs the Linn.
