Urghh...NAC 552 burn in rollercoaster

That’s my experience too with a 552, long burn in and plenty of “this sounds terrible” moments. Having owned multiple naim boxes most sound good out of the box and improve overtime - the 552 in my system has been painful with house moves, and service / DR with it taking ages to come on song……

I’ve only ever owned a pre-loved 552, which I bought at two years old. It took a couple of days to settle and then was unchanged. Most new equipment takes a few months to fully run in, with the vast majority of changes taking place over the first couple of months, but I struggle with the concept that people still detect improvements after 18 or 24 months. I’d hazard a guess that it’s in the mind, or due to wine.
