Hi everyone,
I have a strange problem with USB playback. A brand new Uniti Atom does not see the pendrive or disk. Uniti Star reads the same devices without a problem.
I formatted as FAT32, exFAT, NTFS and nothing. The only pendrive that plays is an old 2GB formatted as FAT (I think 16). On these unreadable ones there is a library of CDs ripped to Uniti Star. I would be grateful for your help.
Both devices have the latest firmware 3.10.0 (5598).
Hi, I have a vague recollection that a Star music folder cannot be read by other devices. Try putting the USB drive into a computer, and copy the albums onto another USB drive. See if they will then play on the Atom once they are no longer in the folder that was originally the Star designated music store.
Thanks @ChrisSU, I’ll try.
I’m surprised that Atom behaves as if there was no disk in the slot.
In addition, I’ve uploaded other music files to the downloads directory. It doesn’t see them either.
Presumably you’ve enabled the USB input…
Chris is right. That is the problem. You cannot, as a matter of design, read a Star music store on a USB device on another Naim streamer.
@davidhendon Yes, of course. As I wrote, one of the pendrives (the small one) Atom read. That’s why I assumed it was a file system problem.
Sorry, it was to you.
I don’t understand this policy, it’s ridiculous. I can rip a CD, I can play it from the Core file server, but I can’t move the pendrive to another device?!
Shhh…
Well, OK!
I will try to copy music files without Naim’s metadata and will see?
You don’t need to ditch the metadata, just take the files out of the Star music folder.
Yes, but to be sure, I’ll get rid of the *.naim files
To be sure of what? Removing metadata just means that you won’t be able to browse properly.
If you want versatile metadata you should rip to FLAC, but if you’ve used WAV it’s too late for that now.
Good point.
It works!
Thanks for the help guys.
Sorry for the delay, but I had to take care of other things.
