Using Wiim streamers with Naim amplification

Hi all,
I’ve recently acquired a wiim ultra streamer. My only major complaint is Naim radio is better than the like 5 options they provide. But anyway, I’d like to pair it with Naim amplification, either pre+power or just power, I’d like to keep the half size vibe as well

Wiim has both tunein and Vtuner which has I would imagine every radio station on gods green earth. Find the one you want click the three dots and add to presets.

The Naim internet radio aggregation service is much better than TuneIn, in my opinion. Higher quality streams, more up-to-date, Naim is responding very fast to requests etc. I have TuneIn on my BlueSound Node Icon.

Well there you are then, thats the difference between 4k naim gear and a 300 quid wiim. You pays your money you makes your choice.

I only listen to radio 4 anyway so absolute sound quality is not really an issue.

Is it still the case that TuneIn fails to play non-uk stations if the device is located in the UK?

Yes and no. Fails to play on Auralic and Wiim. Plays fine on Linn.

It does have BBC stations, but at pretty low quality. OK for listening to the news, perhaps, but not much else.

Hey chaps, I appreciate radio services are a massive debate topic sometimes on here, but I was more angling my post around if anyone had paired the wiim with Naim amplification and what their thoughts were.

I have a Pro into my 272 when the 272 isn’t playing ball, which appears to be less with the most recent update.

Also have an Ultra into a Nait 5i in my office downstairs. All works well.

For the best results I’d suggest an Ultra into a Chord Qutest (or your flavour) via the USB output.

I have a Pro Plus and a Nait 50 in my office system. There is a Chord Qutest between them, but while waiting for the Qutest to arrive I did experiment with the WiiM directly into the amp. For a little over £200 I was surprised how decent it sounded and the Ultra should do better. But for me, any Naim amp deserves a quality source and I don’t think a WiiM streamer on its own makes the cut. Best used as a streaming bridge in my opinion, YMMV of course.
