It does look good and make it easy to flick though the collection, but i’d doubt those drawer runners would survive the weight of records for long.
Looks like it would fall to bits in a short time if fully loaded
Not sure of the origin of the cube in the photo Nick, but you have reminded me of an unusual experience with vinyl storage here.
Decades ago, likely mid seventies, purchased a number of habitat square cubes, (similar to Ikea Kallax) which work very well under some shelving. Last year I was rueing the fact that with recent purchases, not much space left. Checked the original cardboard(s) stored in the loft for the cubes on spec; delighted to find one unused cube, still in its box. Must have purchased more than I needed long ago!
On that occasion I must have known vinyl would be around for longer than any of us anticipated when cds arrived. Still some space left! Hope you are enjoying your recent changes!
This is basically what I want, flipping through records on top facing front, preferably the same on the first tier.
Thinking now to make this with a drawer below, problem is the high weight and so it need to be fixed on the wall or high counter weight inside.
Thats it, but then smaler fit to one record width.
Good point. They have to be screwed to the wall so should be safe from tipping.
I guess if they are equivalent to filing cabinet runners they may well be strong enough for up to 80 records each.
Have you looked at Lagom Studio? Great selection of custom made hi fi and storage units.

Thanks for the tip!
