Vinyl releases on pre order

Looks like there was a brief window of opportunity - now showing as ‘sold out’ again.

Hope folks who really wanted this set after years of chasing managed to secure it as the announcement seemed to go under the radar. Lots of chatter about an ‘Anthology’ re-release this Spring, but I don’t recall anyone flagging this until the pre-order was announced yesterday.

Cal Tjader - Amazonas, Craft Jazz Dispensary (2025)
Amazonas finds legendary vibraphonist Cal Tjader deep in his ‘70s Brazilian jazz fusion bag, operating at the sonic intersection between Rio and California, backed by a pairing of Airto Moreira on production, and George Duke on arrangements, and guest performances by Hermeto Pascoal, David Amaro, and Raul De Souza. This Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf reissue of Amazonas was cut from the original analogue tapes (AAA) by Kevin Gray, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI, and comes packaged in a tip-on jacket.

The Circling Sun - Orbits, Soundway Records (2025)

Following their acclaimed debut “Spirits”, New Zealand’s boundary-pushing jazz collective The Circling Sun return with their sophomore LP “Orbits” — a deeply layered fusion of spiritual jazz, analog electronics, and percussive groove. Where “Spirits” explored 1960s influences, “Orbits” shifts into the mid-’70s, drawing inspiration from Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Yusef Lateef’s Atlantic era, and the Brazilian jazz of Azymuth and Airto Moreira.

The ensemble blends arpeggiating Prophet synths and modular electronics with acoustic instrumentation: saxophone, upright piano, vintage drums, and hand-played percussion. Tracks move seamlessly between danceable Afro-Cuban rhythms and expansive, ambient jazz meditations — with layered vocals and choral textures guiding the listener through an interstellar sonic journey.

Lush yet accessible, “Orbits” appeals to both deep jazz heads and fans of ambient, soulful instrumental music.

This was on repeat at the bar when we holidayed in Menorca in 2001. Then 9/11 happened whilst we were there…

Mike Taylor Quartet - Pendulum, Decca /British Jazz Explosion (2025)

Mike Taylor Trio - Trio, Decca/British Jazz Explosion (2025)

Just pre ordered from Amazon,

Taken from promotional,

These new editions have been remastered at Gearbox Studios, London, using the original tapes (or high-resolution digital source files, taken from the original tapes), which were transferred to a Studer reel-to-reel tape machine, then mastered using an all-valve analogue mastering desk. The 180gm LPs are housed in 350gsm brown craft board sleeves. They are accompanied by extensive new liner notes (a 12x12 four-page insert) from British jazz expert Tony Higgins, with detailed insight into the extraordinary life of Taylor, who, with every passing year, becomes more of a fascinating character in the development of British jazz and whose story reads like that of a grand opera, embracing exceptional music, high drama, mental illness, drugs and an untimely early death.

Asian Dub Foundation - 94-Now Collaborations, BIG WAX (2025)

ADF with amongst others Stewart Lee, Sinead O’Connor & Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

The comedy sketch by Stewart Lee sampled in ‘Coming Over Here’ is one of the funniest I’ve seen ever and had me and my partner in tears it is very, very funny.

The Teskey Brothers - Live at The Hammersmith Apollo, Decca (2025)

There are very few vocalists who can pull off a worthy rendition of Otis Redding’s
‘Try a Little Tenderness’ and Josh Teskey has a very, very good go on this Live to tape album he doesn’t have the effortlessness of Otis but then nobody does, great effort though and especially live direct to tape.
