yes Richard, his assistant asked which pmc they were but otherwise nothing said, have not tried the rock setting yet, must admit I am impressed with it all things considered this is half the price of a new 500 system yet taking it on head to head and no servicing needed and only 1 box
Hi whisky,
As I sideline please could you describe the way your existing 552/500 grip/control the MB2s, and also how big is your room? Never heard the MB2s but would love to hear them ATB Peter
Not surprised they havenāt said much about the PMCās, as this was one off the reasons i didnāt make the swap, at first it was a real problem, and advised to change them asap, if i wanted to get the true vitus sound, then as i started to wobble, not a problem any more. Did get me thinking about it all, and probably the reason i unboxed my naim and tried it once again.
The vitus stuff, does grab hold off the speakers well, due to the huge transformer it needs, due to running class A, it has better control of the speaker, than say the 500dr has.
It just sounds different to the naim sound
That smacks of being desperate for a sale. Iām not surprised you balked. āTo get the Vitus soundā indeed. I wonder what the āVitus soundā is supposed to be.
I wonder what the ānaim soundā is! Lol
they grip them just fine, I had a 300 before and apart from the obvious difference they were fine
the room is 4m sq and when Paul from hifi lounge came round he couldnāt believe how good they were in a small room, in fact is has just got the bb5ās in a room not hugely bigger than mine. I auditioned the fact 8ās (fact 12ās werenāt around then) and the pb1i but the mb2ās blew them out of the water. I think the difference is they are pro monitors unlike the facts and Pbās, anyway I love them!!!
Well quite. The idea of a Vitus dealer saying that PMC speakers must be swapped for others - presumably models they sell - to get the āVitus soundā smacks of cynical money grabbing to me.
Well i was certainly being told, that i should be changing my speakers, if i wanted to hear all the details etc that the sia025 can deliver, but also to be fair, was told not to go for the 030, as i would be better getting the 025 and speakers, as it would bring more sound benefits.
You can look at all this, in many ways i guess, but i do think Richard was just giving his best advice, rather than the sales man pitch, but then i dont know him, so cant really say i guess, but i would like to think its advice.
Just i find it a bit funny, that you also have PMC speakers, but these havenāt even been mentioned, as i believe the fact range, was designed to sound like your range, but in a smaller cabinet, so easier to live with?
Thank you whiskey, after all they are little cuddly stand mounts Enjoy Peter
more like chimp coffins lol
like you I donāt really know him but he seems genuine enough, he did say when I buy this I should come over to his and he would show me what it could really do in his system
No different from a Naim dealer saying the same thing . . .
I agree, itās cynical whoever says it. It be out of the door in a shot.
maybe, maybe not cynical.
certain amps do pair well with certain speakersā¦ some folks like Naim and Harbeth, and maybe this works for certain type of music, but it seems for Metal/Dance/rock it is very very hard to beat a dynaudio, and especially when paired with a Naim amp.
Luckily for me my speakers work with everything from Bach to PJ Harvey. A speaker thatās only good for some music is a poor speaker in my book, likewise electronics. Good hifi should be good with everything.
To be 100% honest, i just want to know how the ND555 stacks up against the built on dac, was told it was better, but find that a bit hard to swallow, especially when you look at the 2 products side by side.
I havenāt got the interconnect to try as Naim and Vitus are different
Shame you canāt borrow a 5 pin din to RCAās
Heās a Naim dealer tooā¦
