Volume knob issue rendering Nova unresponsive

Hi all,

I’m having an issue with my Naim Uniti Nova. It started with the volume knob no longer responding when turned (although it still lit up). After searching here and online for possible solutions I performed a power cycle, which seemed to fix the volume knob issue.

A day later, however, my television began showing a volume notification every two minutes, as if the volume was being adjusted (even though it wasn’t, and the correct volume was shown). I tried several things (resetting the TV, checking cables, unplugging the Nova, etc.) but nothing resolved the problem. I then performed a soft reset. After this reset the standby button began blinking (2-4-10), which indicates a software or update issue.

I then went ahead with a factory reset, but since then the unit has been completely unresponsive. The Naim logo stays on, the volume knob keeps blinking, and the front panel buttons remain lit. Since then the unit has not been working properly.

It seems I’ll need to contact my dealer, but I wanted to ask if anyone here has experienced this problem and might know of a solution.

This is already the third time this unit (purchased in March 2024) has had issues. Three months after delivery the remote board had to be replaced due to intermittent loss of connection with the remote. After that repair I had the unit back for only a week before it went back to the dealer with the same problem.

Kind greetings,

Stijn

Update 24-08-2025

The Nova is functioning again after being unplugged for a few hours. The tv is still displaying the volume level for about every 2 minutes so I am wondering if this could be some dirt within the knob which makers contact and thus sending a signal to the television.

Nothing else has changed in het last period so I wil still call the dealer to discuss what to do next.

Kind greetings, Stijn

Try another factory reset.

  1. Firstly unplug any connected speakers and the power cable.

  2. Press the Play/ Pause and Input buttons on the front panel while powering up the Uniti Nova.

  3. Continue to hold for 5 seconds.

  4. Release the Play/ Pause and Input buttons.

  5. Wait for the Uniti Nova to complete the factory reset and go into Stand-by.

  6. Press the Power button to power up the product.

Hi Stocko,

Thanks for your reply. Allready performed the factory reset which didn’t help. In the meantime my Some other issues arose (HDMI port not always switching when the TV is in and volume issues (different volume levels without displaying a change in volume in the screen oenig the app.

I’m far from a technicus but my best guess would be an issue with the volume knob and/or software. The dealer asjes me to bring it in for service.

Have a great day!
