Jay Vine is on fantastic form and having a great tour, and Alpecin-Deceuninck have a new star.
Pinot maybe a bit disappointed to finish 4th, with two teammates to help him in the breakaway.

A great breakaway and if they cooperated together a little longer maybe a couple of more could have made it to the finish ahead of the peloton.
Remoco certainly looks unbeatable at this point in time. A brutal week in the mountains and looking forward to the rest of the Vuelta.

The lack of activity from the Trek-Segafredo climbers was noted yesterday, and i’d hoped they were keeping the powder dry for some up hill Tiberi - López - Elissonde action today, and although Juan Pedro López got in a breakaway it wasn’t the actual one to break the elastic, which was the very next attack and it went without any Trekies.
Oh well, longs ways to go with this tour yet.

Meanwhile, superb win of Meintjes who made it look so easy, but that finishing gradient looked steep.
I feel some sympathy for Roglič, today he lost his helper Sepp Kuss to Covid, Chris Harper crashes into the armco - Ouch that must of hurt! - and Roglič struggles up Les Praeres losing the best part of a minute to Evenepoel. Poor team Jumbo-Visma, they really need the rest-day tomorrow.

Enjoyable race today with the large breakaway and the eventual victory by Richard Carapaz. Also hard crash of Remco Evenepoel and his right thigh looked like it sustained some damage and may cause some pain/soreness over the next few days. Although it did not appear to bother him too much today with his finish ahead of the other GC contenders today. Jay Vine look like he may be in a position to take his third stage victory today for awhile but did not have enough in the tank today. Looking forward to the weekend…
Over here on the west coast of the US I am always catching the race on tape delay so I avoid the thread until after I have had a chance to watch the race.
