Warning in NDX2 diagnostics

Evenin’ all:
Just looked at my NDX2 diagnostics after my latest firmware update and am getting a warning on the “FREE RAM” entry. Is this something I need to do something about?

Dunno - question for suppprt?

Since our firmware upgrade few days back NDX2 has been undergoing a lot of use.

That does seem very low. I’m seeing more like 250MB here when idle. Is your streamer playing, and does it have other stuff going on such as server mode enabled, USB drive attached, lots of inputs enabled?

Ditto with my ND5XS2 - a very happy listener here up North.

Where is the menu for diagnostics - do I want to know this….?

It’s a new feature @drago, get the IP address of the device from the app Network Settings, enter that into a browser on the same network and you get a home page. Look for the Diagnostics option along the top line.

All green… ufff similar to @IainO
Only airplay and chromecast red - think it is because I have disabled both.

But the menus are scary to me.
Within the network option I do not want to change anything by accident… I was very careful even with my eyes
And the update menu tells you not to go further- won’t do!

Too bad (or good) that the temperature is not available - I think in summer that cam be …

Free ram at nd5xs2 is 220mb but with nd555 68 mb. Strange.
Does this relate to the nd555 being in constant use? Nd5xs2 is still.
Put nd555 in standby but still 6x mb when woke up.
Nd555 is server mode!

No streaming services - I use it for local streaming only. Server mode is enabled and I use a USB flash drive as my source. Other inputs (default) are there but not used.
@stevesky ?

My NDX2 is showing only 25MB free ram, but having no issues whatsoever. All lights green

Strange - mine is also going down when playing.
But nd5xs is fully loaded - even with server mode.
But did not let him play for longer …

I wonder if an Ethernet cable upgrade will improve RAM use :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@Mike_S From down under i expected something coming …
I think there is a cable that can do… everything!

Have you checked your nd555 - better don’t

Naim will now be watching this thread with their head in their hands thinking,
“Oh no! What have we created - we are now going to get calls from people complaining that their free RAM is too low!”
Of course in reality its real relevance of this will be for people with real solid issue resolution. It has a nice download of diagnostics option

I don’t even know how to, which I’m quite pleased about :sunglasses:

This page is hidden because it’s not supposed to be seen or used by anyone who thinks it’s scary! As @Stevesky said in another thread, it’s for geeks. So if it scares you or even just bores you, forget about it until someone who is trying to fix something for you brings it back into your consciousness!

As a part time geek though, I think it’s fascinating.

Nah, geeks have always used the /webclient in debug mode to poke around!

Believe me, I’ve looked through most of it  You can get a real feel for how these devices hang together at a software level.

Now there you COULD do some real damage, so undoubtedly why naim have added the far more user friendly diagnostics download.

That’s what I thought yesterday. Naim aready though that - I a sure!

Today - all of a sudden - google cast is green - have done nothing…
I try to let it be

I know how silly it is … but I tend to check the parameters.
Maybe @Stevesky can calm us (me?) down.
Think it’s all like pulse or blood pressure - dynamic parameters!

Good choice - I never should have opened this door
