Size is not important after all.
I prefer queen scallops too.
I just found it quite odd - counterintuitive initially but dirtier water presumably has more nutrients for the shellfish to dine on even if they are from unpleasant sources!
Well, that has definitely ruined buying or eating cockles ever again for me.
God if those things got any smaller they wouldn’t be worth the effort.
Not surprising at all. I’ve always assumed large but lower cost shrimp are taken from just outside the sewage outflows near the coast.
