Web radio, multiroom and/or app issues

Dear All,

sorry, if this is rather longish and maybe unspecific in places.
I have been running the Naim Uniti Atom and the Mu-so & Qb 2nd Generation for some time now and never had real problems with web radio or multiroom use. Unfortunately for a week or so the App is behaving erratically in several places.

Web radio - I’m aware of the fact that Naim have changed the radio server. The firmware on both my devices meets the requirements mentioned in the sticky posts here in the forum:
Uniti Atom Firmware Version: 3.10.1.5617
Mu-so & Qb 2nd Generation Firmware Version: 4.4.1.6600
The Android (it’s Lineage) Focal&Naim App Version I’m using is 7.4

So here’s what’s wrong …

Web Radio
Function in the main menu does not work at all.

When tapping the web radio button nothing happens apart from the app switching back and forth between the devices screen and the web radio screen. That’s it then.

Web radio and issue with multiroom
Even with the new radio server my existing favourites/presets work. Although [Keine Wiedergabe = No Playback] is displayed at the bottom left of the screen the selected radio station - for example Radio Paradise - is playing when tapped on.

When tapping on the [No playback] icon, instead of showing icon of the selected radio station and the volume control including the multiroom icon, I get this “useless” screen:

With other sources, in my case = stored music on a NAS, the multiroom feature and volume control more or less work. Although [Keine Wiedergabe = No Playback] is also displayed at the bottom left of the screen after having chosen an album …

… when being tapped the [No Playback] icon shows the familiar volume control:

Cannot access crucial Settings (…) for either device in the App anymore
I’m using a German App software, so I hope you can make do with these translations:

  • Services and Accounts → no access
  • System Settings → no access
  • App Settings
  • Data and Privacy
  • Information and Help → no access

When tapping on the items marked with “-> no access” nothing happens. The animated round activity arrow is displayed but leads to nothing. I can only abort back to the Settings menu.

Despite pulling the plugs of both devices and re-starting the router/the app several times both issues persist. I’m using a WiFi setup that was fine all the time. The Naim network scan says that both devices have “Great Connection Quality”. The “Connection Quality” for the router is “Moderate”.

It would be great if someone had an idea on how to fix these (or one) issues.

Thanks in advance and best from Berlin
Bernd

I don’t know if this will solve your problems but you’ve said that you are using your existing presets? You need to delete these and then remake them as new presets under the new radio system. You also need to stop any existing radio streams if you have any running. If those steps don’t work then if it were me I would factory reset all three devices and set them up again. It doesn’t take long but of course you would lose any saved settings by doing so. Good luck!

Dear JonathanH,

Thank you for the suggestion(s). Of course I was thinking there would be a less time consuming way to fix the issues.
At least I can delete the old presets one by one but I haven’t got a clue where to then see or access the “new radio system”. As I said, I can’t access any system settings in the App.
Maybe I can do factory resets of both devices via the network options on my Windows PC!? Has to wait until tomorrow.

A little bit disappointing for me that by (merely) establishing a new radio server a so far smoothly running system is now only operable with workarounds.

Best
Bernd

With a bit of luck if you delete the old presets things might start to improve and you might then have access to the new radio system (which is very good). I hope no factory resets will be needed!

You need to delete your old ffavorits/presets and start over again with the new naim service. This will most likely solve your problems. The old favorits/presets are trying to access a dead service.

In exactly the same way, starting from “iradio”. All that’s happened is the service that links the station you choose to the internet url is now a Naim system replacing vtuner.

I think you are suffering the same as other android 14/ naim 7.4 users.

This issue is for naim to fix, suggest you email support and get a ticket to fix.

You are not alone.

Thank you all for your good tipps. Everything is fine now

After I deleted all radio presets in the App nothing had really changed. I still couldn’t access system settings or web radio.
I then did a factory reset for both the Uniti Atom and the Mu-so Qb. Also I de-installed the App and re-installed it. The basic setup took me about an hour. After all that I could access all services (web radio + system settings) in the App.

I would have wished for a clear recommendation from Naim how to go about in these cases: non legacy systems, Android user/… Something like “do factory resets for all devices” would have helped and definitely saved me some time.

Bernd

Just out of curiosity … where would I find an item like “iradio” in my system?

What a right faff.

The reason for this was that your units were still trying to access the last chosen Internet radio station of the now defunct service.

If you had gone to the Now Playing screen in the app and tapped the Disconnect (or similar wording) control, then exited the Now Playing screen, you would have seen the Internet radio directory instantly populate, as I did when I did this on my Gen 1 Muso Qb. Doing a factory reset achieved the same outcome in a more complicated way. This has been explained many times in the various threads here, but of course you have to actually read them to find it! And there are a lot to wade through now.

Military-grade irritation.
