Agree with this… the better the NAC, the more tolerant it appears to be of sources of differing abilities… in terms of making the most of them and allowing them to be enjoyable/hold your attention.
I found the mid range NACs like the 202 and 282 more sensitive to source matching,
When I listened to 252 against 552 it sounded darker and more closed closed in…the treble seems more recessed (252)… The strange thing is the perceived extra brightness (552) is largely more information … the 552 takes no prisoners…yet with care the treble has a wonderful sophistication that has no tizzy or spitty elements… circuit wise I am not sure…no doubt the psu and grounding and suspension has been optimised…
