Hi @Fredd, yes, for anyone in London who is focused on naim or Linn and do not want a “hard-sell” experience, BillyVee is definitely worth a trip to. Very honest and patient brokers. While I bought the naim 500’s from them and they know I am definitely buying speakers, they are being very patient and in fact encouraging me to survey the market on what’s out there before potentially coming back to what they rep.
I totally understand. It’s a smaller thing, but I’ve stopped drinking Bourbon. I’m slowly going through some Canadian alternatives ![]()
Jack Daniel’s biggest market after the US is apparently Canada and it’s so big that they are very concerned that the LCBO (Ontario’s booze distributor) took all US wine/spirits off the shelve. Suspect Jefferson and others are also equally concerned.
I’ve heard a lot of different Wilson’s
Some are good or Vgood - non were really disappointing.
Tempted with some myself, but s/h only due to price.
In such price range I’d definitely listen to the biggies from Neat and Kudos(some of my favorite).
If you have room and amp, the large Dynaudio if you like a bit laid back or some of the flagship KeF or B&W, maybe Tannoy.
China manufacture may be investigated to rule out (quite difficult as they do everything to hide origin)
Then there’s PMC and ATC which I thought were really nice too.
The new French Revival range looks promising.
Lots of choice, if you risk no support, no spares loudspeakers, the original Naim were something special, think NBL, DBL, S800 and so on..
In my opinion they were much better than Naim’s current Focal loudspeaker range.
I think you should consider switching out your ProAc D38 for D48R, or K3 or K6 .. Yes there are those here that are locked into the source first thing.. still you’ve been a ProAc guy for almost 20years.. not sure the Sonus are going to be the right fit. If your going to spend big money on the electronics I’d consider PASS Class A gear, Boulder Electronics, DartZell, Dan D’Agostino, Gryphon.
I would add to the list:
- Apertura Enigma 2
- Proac K10
- Wilson Benesh Act 3 zero
- Sonus Faber Amati G5
- ATC SCM 100
Now I am curious. I am guessing neither Audi, BMW nor Mercedes…
Can’t say I blame you. You’ve been treated very unfairly. I still LOVE Canada except as a Kraken fan I can’t root for the Canucks. lol
(I was sad to read about that tragedy in Van last night)
Yes, terrible news in Vancouver. Our youngest son lives there and we know a number of members of the Filipino community in Whistler who I am sure have been impacted in one way or another. Yes, the Kraken and Canucks are a good rivalry. I am a Sabres fan having grown up on the Canadian side of the border, close to Buffalo – they haven’t made the playoffs since 2011! Maybe next year…
It happened right off Fraser Street. Very sad news. Vancouver is my second city. I’ll likely take the safe choice and root for the Leafs but I’m sure they’ll disappoint as always… ![]()
@William, something a bit faster…

Zuffenhausen taxi?
My brother ordered one of their subs…he reconed it was built beautifully. Ultimately he returned it as it proved difficult to integrate with the pmc 20.26. He said it was easy to return…the courier came and collected to 50kg beast.
In the past I had a full-fat 500DR system and used PMC Fact 12s. They are wonderful speakers and pair well with Naim gear. Certainly worth a listen if you can.
I wouldn’t entertain the Fact 12’s with anything less than a 500. The 300 wasn’t enough for them when I demoed them.
This was our experience too. The NAP300 (non-DR) could not drive them well at all. Our NAP135s just about managed.
Perhaps NAP350 monoblocks are the new “entry level” power amp for PMC FACT12.
Best regards, BF
Original poster has acquired a full 500DR system, so I believe the Fact 12s would be a good fit for his new system and they are made in the UK.
On my original system journey a 552DR plus 300DR combination drove the Fact 12s very well. Yes, the 500DR drives them even better, but the 300DR was not that far behind.
Considering what you can pickup either a NAP300 or 500 for used these days, it’s also a relative bargain given what either of them are capable of with the right system synergy factored in.
