What are you driving and why would we be interested?

Nice colours Phil, enjoy!

I hope it goes well, it certainly has been well received by press and public and I believe their are long wait lists.

Great looking car Tim. Interior and exterior are fab - I had a mosey at one in a showroom when I was hunting for my M340i touring (delivery due this month). Certainly gets fantastic reviews and has good range and great performance. Enjoy !

Too early to say as yet of course (only done 25 miles or so) but already can see it is hugely more efficient than the iX was.

@Gazza rhe colour is more green than I had feared. It’s been v hard to find photos of the actual colour but def the right colour for me. Unfortunately the green interior was not available when I ordered but the interior is actually rather nice

Edited to add - done about 50 miles in it so far and it looks like I am getting an extra mile per kWh than on the iX (though obviously would have been far cheaper to stick with re iX). The salesman said the wait is now 12 months for the 50 though the rear wheel drive 40 is available more quickly.

The roads round here are absolutely terrible but I am not missing the air suspension at all (yet?). The ride isn’t pillowy soft but very good damping means it’s more noise than discomfort. Steering nicely direct without being nervous

the speed limit identification seems to be just as bad as any other car

Sports cars don’t get much better than that. Enjoy it! I love the model car collection too. :+1:

Thank you, models include Ferrari 330P4 and 512S which are among the most beautiful Sports prototypes ever, Porsche 904 which was one of the most advanced cars of its era. It’ s a pity that Porsche never did anything like this since then

Lovely colour. Lovely everything. :+1:

Why is this? Our Volvo EX30 is just as bad. It can generally pick up the signs but where ever it gets its background data (Google?) is just awful.

Have to say the Toyota based system in our Lexus LBX is great with speed signs except where they are on parallel roads or at junctions and have been angled badly. The system self corrects if it sees a repeater sign on a lampost or within a few hundred yards. DGP

I think it’s also a matter of software updates. Our car’s (BMW) wasn’t great when we first got it, now it’s like you describe.

Lovely car. I hope BMW are planning to introduce a similarly efficient version of the iX1, in which event I will seriously consider switching from petrol.

My thoughts as well if the iX1 replacement is as good as the iX3. Had a look at one in my local dealer and it is a very smart car but too big for my local lanes

Do the new electric BMW models still have this unusable space under the hood?

The new iX3 has a 58 litre ‘frunk’ plus 520 litre rear cargo space with the rear seats up. 1,750 litres with the seats down.

Good progress.

Did 188 miles yesterday / today and got over four miles per kWh without trying hard. Dividing percentage battery used by distance traveled (oops other way round!) it implied 460 miles. A mix of crossing Derbyshire pennines, A roads, motorway at 70 mph (Preston to chesterfield and back). So much better than the iX in efficiency terms - a good 30% or so. I can’t remember exactly what the salesman said but when I said I am planning to keep for five years a plus and maybe downsize after that he said bmw are planning a small EV but I don’t know when. Can’t imagine they aren’t doing a neue klasse ix1 though

The 520 litre boot is the same size as the iX despite the iX3 being 3 inches narrower, 7 inches shorter and two inches lower than the iX

I hope that’s the case, I’ll be looking to change in 3-4 years.
