Royal Opera House, Covent Garden
Suspense filed and sinister aura from the top. Maid scene sounds a bit peaky and too much vibrato. Entrance of Elektra is a relief with Lammer’s better even and warmer tone. Expressive and moving against crisp and dynamic orchestration tho, it’s a bit old fashioned now.
Not the best of recording. Limited dynamics and laid back view with audience noise throughout. Upper midrange glare and uneven recording.
one of early acquisitions long ago when I was at university… so my old vinyl copy has definitely seen better days…
