Roxy Music, Avalon.
A herbal haze filled my student bedroom as I plopped the TDK in to record this session in 1989. I had recently acquired a Sansui FM tuner, and all the Peel, (Fall, Wedding Present, Spiral Tribe, 808 State etc) suddenly sounded way better than before.
A case of the listener being in the optimum listening state?

Never heard of them but @Steve_S suggested them so that’s good enough to place in the queue. Quite enjoyed.
Robbie Robertson. Self titled debut solo.
Back on familiar territory this is one of two albums bought when I got my first CD player (Sony)
Laura Veirs - Found Light
Not as catchy as her earlier stuff but, in its own way, quite profound following her path beyond her marriage. A grower. This might be fifth time I’ve played the CD.
The Hawkwind album for me is testament to how images can invoke a powerful reaction in other senses. Whenever I pull it from the library I both see and smell the upper sixth common room back in the late 60s. A fetid hole redolent with patchouli oil, rugby socks drying on the radiators, wet Afghan coats and a coffee machine alive with life forms not previously known to science.
