That’s D Heckstall-Smith on sax on the left - his son was on the Naim Forum a year or so ago.
Just discovered this one due to an earlier post. Featuring Lissie whose “Piano Retrospective” I played earlier.
Charles Mingus - Cumbia & Jazz Fusion
Mingus towards the end but still on fire. A bit of misleading title as not jazz fusion in the general sense.
Watching some film with audio taken of Led Zepp from behind the stage seating at the Blueberry Hill gig LA Forum 4th Sept 1970
The Wall CD Rip
Not often I’ll play this over the vinyl, but I think I prefer the SQ. Have a fairly recent heavyweight pressing and don’t get on with it that well, nowhere near as good as my original which got damaged. ![]()
Was listening to ‘Freddie Freeloader’ from this just this afternoon whilst listening to some speakers on demo.
The Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro
More groovy Eighties vinyl. Julian Cope loathed this cover:
So it was reissued with this one (I got both):
I used to frequent the The Cartoon in Croydon and way back In 1984 Bo Diddley played there and at the time his UK touring band were Mainsqueeze, featuring sax maestro D!ck Heckstall-Smith and ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell. A great night, with a great saxophonist and pair of guitarists.
Is it Cumbia, though? Not come across this, sounds intriguing.
This is by turns, truly awful, oddly sinister and utterly compelling, in the sense that I’m awaiting what GM will do arrangement wise to such a vaunted source of tunes.
Now playing…
Mahler: Symphony No. 9 - Berliner Philharmoniker
Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… after reading through the " Bernstein’s Mahler" thread I thought I would go with @JosquinDesPrez recommendation and give this Hi-Res version a spin… and the music is sounding sublime! …kicking off today’s exercise routine with Mahler: Symphony No. 9.
