Whilst Utopia Banished is acclaimed as the start of the genre, I’ve always found this next release more musical.

Earlier days high calibre hip hop:

Biz Markie/Diabolical
Cypress Hill/Black Sunday.

And it’s 40 years on from Grandmaster Flash’s The Message. Blimey.

I did not discover Biz Markie until the last album Weekend Warrior.

Cypress Hill Live at the Fillmore is one of my all time favourites. Listening to the audience reaction around “pigs” is fantastic.

Last night I listened to “Add to playlist” on BBC radio 4, one of the tracks they played was Miserere Mei, Deus by Gregorio Allegri, I was captivated by it.
I found it on Tidal now listening on my Mu-so gen 1.
I’m not a religious person but I do appreciate the beauty of this.

I bought this in my school lunch hour on the day it came out back in 1977. It may be a very beat-up copy, a victim of cheap '70s styli, but it’s one of my favourites (I just counted, I have 18 different copies of Animals on disc!)
