Picked this up in the Qobuz sale. I have other albums by Bohren & der Club of Gore but got me thinking. Change the cover and name to say Nils Bohren and you’ve got a classic ECM release.

I think the genre is generally referred to as ‘Doom Jazz’. I’m a bit of a Bohren fan, more for late night listening though, it’s not exactly get up and go music! Bohren for Beginners and Piano Nights are great albums.
It has some interesting aspects in the performance. However this will not become one of my go to performances on the shortlist for me. Historic performance and some odd choices don’t do the job for me, while it’s also not a run of the mill performance.
