What are you listening to in 2023 and why might anyone be interested?

China Crisis. Diary of a Hollow Horse. Vinyl 1989. Becker producing, Roger Nichols engineering. 3 tracks produced by someone else at the request of the record company. Big mistake imho.

“Described as ‘‘perhaps their most Steely Dan-like album’’, the first single released was ‘‘St. Saviour Square’’, originally recorded by Walter Becker and subsequently by Mike Thorne, whose version ended up on the album, despite the band considering the Walter Becker’s version better.” WIKI.

A slice of Krautrock from 1971 on the Phillips label.

This was their only album and of interest as Ken Hensley from Uriah Heep plays keyboards and guitar

Weighs in around 30 minutes with a lot of that dedicated to guitar playing.

Only £4.25 on Qobuz - a bargain.

Weed - Weed…!

Always reminds me of when I spent a chunk of my student grant on some Monitor Audio speakers for some reason …

Never bothered with Nanci Griffith beyond The Last Of The True Believers which is a super album but her debut appears to have been re-released during August and it’s great. Qobuz stream

When I’m feeling a bit down I get out my guitar and rip into the opening riff to Caught In A Dream.

You know I need a houseboat and I need a plane
I need a butler and a trip to Spain.

We won’t mention Rolf though.

Sun Arise is a pure genius version though, and great lead-in from Dwight Fry

From December 1982, Touch Featuremist – a very arty cassette containing poetry, spoken word, cutups, and music by the likes of New Order, Simple Minds, Tuxedomoon, Soliman Gamil, Death & Beauty Foundation, eric Random, Shostakovitch and Flesh.

They don’t make 'em like this any more!

This one is better IMO:-

Inertia Creeps (Floating On Dubwise), is just stunning,

It’s available as a second CD when you buy Mezzanine (20th anniversary deluxe edition)
