Something a little louder …
Torres – Sprinter
CD | 2015
indie rock
Townes Van Zandt - 1969 - Our Mother the Mountain - Vinyl (50th Anniversary Reissue 1969 - 2019.
This is the second studio album from Townes and is considered to be one of his best albums. It contains one of his most heartbreaking songs “Tecumseh Valley a reminiscence of a miners daughter in Depression- era Oklahoma.
It is absolute classic 60s singer songwriters album but like most of his albums released during his lifetime it did not sell in any great numbers.

Svaneborg Kardyb - Superkilen
Another Tidal recommendation - a very nice listen.
From Matthew Halsall’s Gondwana label (artists include Jasmine Myra, Phi-Psonics, etc).
“Svaneborg Kardyb are Nikolaj Svaneborg – Wurlitzer, Juno, piano and Jonas Kardyb – drums, percussion a multi award winning duo from Denmark, where they won two “grammys” at the Danish Music Awards Jazz 2019: New artist of the year and Composer of the year. Drawing on Danish folk music and Scandinavian jazz influences, including Nils Frahm, Esbjörn Svennson and Jan Johansson’s landmark recording Jazz På Svenska, their music is an exquisite and joyful melding of beautiful melodies, delicate minimalism, catchy grooves, subtle electronica vibes, Nordic atmospheres and organic interplay, all underwritten by the sheer joy of playing together.”
Very sad to get the news a couple of hours ago that Mike Ratledge has died. This is taken from the email we received from Leonardo Pavkovic of MoonJune Records this afternoon.
R.I.P. Michael Roland Ratledge (6 May, 1943 - 5 February, 2025), the founding member of Soft Machine. A musical hero of mine, an amazingly fascinating person, a true gentleman. One of his best and closest friends John Etheridge just called me to give me this utterly sad news … He was one of the most knowledgeable, wise and read people I have ever met. Another Soft Machinist who is gone forever, but Mike and his Soft Pals Hugh Hopper, Elton Dean, John Marshall, Daevid Allen, Kevin Ayers, Allan Holdsworth will never be forgotten.
Mike Ratledge back together with the band again.
Sad news. R.I.P
