Repetition Repetition - Fit for Consequences, Original Recordings 1984 - 1987. Under the radar “two man electric minimalist band” (Reuben Garcia & Steve Caton) from LA. A compilation of pieces originally only receiving limited cassette release. Terry Riley-ish, Kraftwerky electronica, etc. Harold Budd was a fan, apparently. I like this a lot.
D and slim pickings today, Davis,Dire Straights, Doors, Dylan. Miles I play a lot, DS I mainly play their live stuff, So Jim or his Bobness.
Went for this
It has a favourite, Lily and the Jack of Hearts, plus every track is a good one. Nothing I don’t like here.
Chris Robinson Brotherhood - Big Moon Ritual. Released in 2012, you can hear the influence of the likes of The Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers.
This is a wonderful album, but Stanley Unwin is a big argument against listening on vinyl, where skipping his infuriatingly unfunny contributions is difficult.
Azymuth Marca Passo / 2025 Far Out / Poland CD / FARO251CD
First play of this new release - recorded in Brazil, pressed in Poland and mixed in Scotland!
Cool summer music which is excellently recorded and a great addition to the collection.
Bo Grumpus - Before The War (1968). Melodic folk/psych, produced by Felix Pappalardi of Mountain fame. Very much of its time, but still nice.
A very refreshing way of playing a classic. I am impressed. And a classic cover (I think the paintings are in the Vienna art museum, but memory could serve me wrong).
Now playing…
Bill Frisell - Good Dog, Happy Man
Bill Frisell (electric and acoustic guitars, loops and music boxes), Greg Leisz (pedal steel, Dobro, lap steel, Weissenborn, National steel guitar and mandolin), Wayne Horvitz (organ, piano, samples), Viktor Krauss (bass), Jim Keltner (drums and percussion) and Ry Cooder (electric guitar, Ripley guitar on “Senandoah”).
Streaming on Qobuz (44.1/16)… It is a cold and overcast Wednesday morning and it is nice to start today’s music listening session with the beautiful album ‘Good Dog, Happy Man’ from Bill with his talented group of musicians and they are sounding sublime! This is one very sweet album…
