What are you listening to in 2026 and why might anyone be interested?

Sometimes you just wonder how on earth you’ve never experienced some excellent artists who really deserve to be successful, maybe they were and I just missed them. So currently exploring some of the Nerina Pallot back catalogue.

To me a unique mixture of Tori Amos, Kate Bush, The Carpenters, country, lighter pop, maybe some Steely Dan but overall just enjoyable. Preferring Stay Lucky aboev at th eminute but this has some great tracks too

One of the fun things about getting new stereo gear, is that you start digging out more subtle works in your library, hoping that the subtleties are more appropriately audible. And sometimes they are! As in the case of this work, which integrates recorded bird song and orchestra.

Wow based on first few tracks, hopefully it’ll continue…

Yungblud are new to me. Unsure if this is ‘Complete’ as a compilation of 2025 Idols and yet to be released album this year.

Under £7 with Sublime too.

This looks like a really interesting listen! I’ll have to track it down.

I was really sorry to hear your news after reading the above posts. It sounds like you’ve had a tough few years, but I’m in awe at your ability to reflect on it the way you have and come out stronger the other side. I have a 17 year old cat and I’m dreading the day I lose her. She’s still going strong right now though

Saw her live a few years back with a guest guitarist.

Amazing performance.

More from Ween. Chocolate & Cheese LP 3. Feels too demeaning to call these tracks “out-takes”. They’re essential. Like The Beatles’ White Album. But better.

Thanks for your kind words.Had a big smile reading them.
Its such a warm friendly place with posters on this thread.
And I so empathise with your comments about your 17 year elderly girl cat..not getting any younger.
I know you adore her.
Wishing you a fine day
Best wishes Ian

Rautavaara’s publisher has made available for download digitised copies of the bird recordings to extend performances of this work. The files are complete with instructions how to integrate the sound with the score. They are an interesting listen in themselves but sadly one of the three files (currently 2026) is corrupt. Marvellous work. DGP

A great CD. Love they way it was mixed. I did manage to see them at Southampton and Earls Court in the early 90’s when “The Way We Walk” was in the charts. Didn’t manage to get ticket for Twickenham. Did buy The Way We Walk. The Longs and The Shorts after those 2 concerts. Also 2 great CD’s. Can recommend all of the above. Thx @Cmax for the reminder post.

A great album. Got it on vinyl and regularly play that along with Back and Forth. Was luck enough to see Lindisfarne at Southampton University in the mid 70’s. £1 a ticket. A great concert.

Heard a track “Glimmers” from this on Radio6 in the car earlier - reminded me to give it another play. Lovely relaxing stuff.

I’ve just picked up a copy of this album after realising I didn’t have it in my collection, can’t quite work out how that happened! This one is a more collaborative affair than usual adding a number of heavily processed and manipulated vocals to proceedings whilst retaining the massive, reverb heavy sound that JGD does so very well.

Just had a quick play of side one of RHF Black Sabbath…it sounds great!

Well worth getting a copy. Beautiful job by Kevin Gray. Be aware that this is the US version, no Evil Woman - US releases used Wicked World instead.

Happy Twin Peaks Day, time to listen with some damn fine coffee and cherry pie.

Gentle Giant - The Power and the Glory

I’ve scarcely heard anything by GG. I only have one album, which rather put me off. However, someone recently posted one of their albums, so I had a quick trawl through Qobuz and, after one dud, found this which is quite interesting.
