Scorpions & Saif Abu Bakr (1980). Leading Sudanese jazz band of the 60s, 70s & early 80s, when the Islamic revolution put a stop to all that and caused many musicians to flee the country. Heavily influenced by Western funk, and particularly James Brown, this, their only album, is a party waiting to happen. Reissued in 2018 by the nice people at Habibi Funk.

Pretty Things - Silk Torpedo
Something of a high point for the Pretty Things from 1974 back with Norman Smith producing and on the newly formed Swan Song Label.
Great guitar playing from Pete Tolson.

Ana Lua Caiano - Vou Ficar Neste Quadrado (2024). Qobuz lists this as folk and there are traditional Portuguese folk elements, but there are also heavy electronic beats, synths and vocals that draw on more modern musical forms.

Lake Street Dive - Fun Machine EP (2012). Really is fun, too. Short set of mainly cover versions (George Michael, Hall & Oates etc) showcasing Rachael Price’s wondrous vocals.

Well spotted. Peugeot actually left the US market in 1991. The 505 was a modest success here.
I used to wear a badge with that logo until it was pointed out to me that it was the symbol of the British Union of Fascists! 
The two logos are actually very different @bhoyo so no chance of any unwanted mix ups.
Happy to hear it, @deadloss. It would be less than optimal otherwise! Bowie’s Aladdin Sane flash is also disconcertingly close.

No Dice. 1979. Vinyl.
I saw these guys live in 77 supporting Tom Robinson at Malvern Winter Gardens. I thought they were excellent. They presented themselves as a bit new wave but were really more bluesy Stones/Faces/Eagles. The music press decided to sink them which was a shame as both their albums are good imho. ( I thought Tom Robinson was pretty awful, but what do I know).
Clapton’s song “Peaches and Diesel” is supposedly named after the Singer and guitarist of No Dice.

A perfect album, blending the influences of Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Sinatra & Phil Spector in their approach to what a popular song can both be about and sound like.
Somehow managing to pay homage to, and yet invert, all the tropes of the love song, without knowing irony but with grace and aplomb.
Incredible production, too. Pristine not sterile, sweetened not saccharine.
A life force of its own volition.
