Cured salmon (homemade) with stewed potatoes.
Rømmegrøt (porridge made with sour cream, while milk, wheat flour and salt. Sprinkled with cnnamon and sugar.
Served with thin slices of cured lamb and red squash. Traditional food.
I’m no fan of sprouts, but that does look good
Is this traditionally an evening meal or breakfast ?
Neither was I my family use to boil them until the were mush apparently it also releases a toxin that makes them taste like sht. Nobody would eat them including the dog. However if treated with care like above and lightly blanched then fried they’re wonderful.
Thanks for that, i might have to give them ago.
Sliced and roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper also very good.
Very tasty but would have been better with Spanish chorizo (which N Slater used) - more fat and more paprika.
Yes anything other than boiling them.
Dinner.
Tradionally served at weddings, funerals and anniversaries.
Interesting, never thought of porridge as an evening meal as its normally a winter breakfast warmer here in the U.K
Tartiflette - unctious comfort food for a cold January evening.
Just hope the ticker can stand the pace.
Tartiflette is just fantastic. Soooo delicious.
Hell, yes!
I’ll be having an initial attempt at this within the next few days.
So easy to make:
• Onion
• Garlic
• Smoked bacon lardons
• White wine (a splash)
• Sliced parboiled spuds (King Edwards are excellent if you don’t overboil them)
• Double Cream
• Cheese - Reblochon or similar (eg ripe Camembert)
• Fresh Thyme (crucial ingredient)
• Black pepper
• Defibrillator
Made me laugh out loud- final ingredient!
Thank you!
