It was going to be chicken halves but others wanted steak!

It was lovely!

It was Sainsbury’s thick ribeye which is generally excellent. Local M&S has closed and their thick ribeye I used to buy is usually out of stock at the nearest one - it’s not too far away but a chore to get to due to local road speed limits and traffic calming measures ensuring a very bouncy unpleasant ride!

After trialling my marinated Suffolk pork chop, pan fried and then finished in the oven. I cooked it for the rest of the family.
Served with an Italian tomato salad, bashed new potatoes. Steamed purple broccoli stems that lost all their colour. And a spoonful of Colmans English mustard.

Bought some local Albondigas, so we made it up as we went along. Added a baked potato, just finished, flavour overload. Nice though.

Needed a boost after today. Spaghetti in a butter and Pecorino clingy sauce, sprinkled with crispy pancetta and red chilli. Went down well with a rich Sicilian red.

Cooked a nice chunky pork chop from Sainsbury’s along with a thick ribeye. Their ribeyes have tended to be excellent but the last 2 have been bland and became thinner on cooking.

Got some lamb burgers from them a few days ago too - absolutely horrible - a gloopy pureed burger. Avoid. The image on the website looks completely different. Wonder if they were off as online reviews are favourable.

Get it right with good ingredients and dishes like this are all you need. Lovely. I would have had a tomato salad (maybe with onions) or avocado vinaigrette or something as a side dish too.
