These were the naturals, indeed jam or syrup. The kids like the ones with bacon which came hereafter.
Rather hot tonight here in London but I managed to scrape together a Diana Henry recipe. Pretty simple. Roasted chicken thighs with red onions and potatoes, dill, feta and lemon juice. Greek yoghurt and harissa on the side.
Crikey what a beast. Organic leg of lamb purchased at a discount a few weeks ago. Really too big for tonight but I’d defrosted it overnight so really had to use it.
Have avoided garlic/rosemary/olive oil with this one, just salted.
Steamed dumplings, spring rolls, preserved mustard stem and jellyfish. Beef in black bean sauce as a main.
Ostrich steak, half the price of beef fillet steak but not quite as good! HB

Barbecued butterflied monkfish tail. The monkfish is coated in panko breadcrumbs, ground fennel seed and dried oregano and then is rubbed with olive oil and salt.
Served with new pots and courgettes braised with garlic, chilli flakes, lemon and basil ( veg from my allotment). The recipe also has a salsa dragoncello which is essentially a salsa verde with greenery from tarragon and the greens from spring onions. Served with Adi Badenhorst’s Secateurs Chenin Blanc
Barbecued butterflied chicken breast marinaded in olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and dried thyme and oregano ( which I bought in Greece). Served with buttered new pots and a tomato, rocket and red onion salad. Pots, rocket and onion from my allotment
PS - eating this in my garden while listening to Weezer and The Deftones playing in Crystal Palace Park
It’s neither spectacularly presented nor well-photographed. However, it’s incredibly nutritious and, most importantly, delicious: Lasagna.
(And no, our cat Lazanja is still doing excellent!)
Don’t shop when hungry!
Bought this ‘well aged’ steak this morning and it was in the car for ages while I did various other shopping.
Got a heavily discounted boneless lamb shoulder which I didn’t want to freeze, best before today.
Steak consistency had changed since purchase so had to cook it too!
To be enjoyed with home grown runner beans/purple dwarf beans and supermarket new potatoes and asparagus. The Aldi sweetcorn is fine despite several days beyond ‘best before’.
Ate two slices now at work, maybe 80°. Pie is a great food I am quite new too.
Looks delicious.
As it doesn’t have a pastry topping, in English it would be called a tart or a flan. Whatever, looks great
