Ive used NC250 for 2 and a half years and just recently moved to 350s . I was using a dealer made mogami set between 332 and 250 . And never really questioned it . The supplied Naim XLRs were never removed from the box.Moving up to date ive used the 350s with the same set of mogami ,all good . But I’ve decided to try the 350s as Naim intended with the supplied XLR cables ( actually used the 250 pair as red and black marked, the 350s are both black!! )On initial fire up ,I thought mmm the Naims are a bit layed back and maybe not as exciting ,but…im not so sure now.. there’s a midrange clarity and a bit of musical synergy coming through….I think ,early days as these are basically new never used cables .
What’s other folks preferred leads from 332 to 350s. I do have Superlumina xlrs in my system but as source connectors to 332. So basically asking about non Superlumina alternatives ( I know how good it is ).
I’ve had the NAP350s here since January 2024 and have always used the supplied naim cables to connect to the NAC332 → no desire to change, as they sound ‘just right’ in the context of the system.
Perhaps I should add im not interested in boutique cables at crazy prices.
Im more interested in hearing if people tried sensibly priced !!! ie up to £750 perhaps but the Naim stock cables came out on top ….or not .
Its just during the olive 250 ,135s era ,which uses the same basic cable it was not common to hear of people diverting away from the 4pin din to xlr ,it seemed accepted as the best for Naims synergy .
This is true , as mogami is so well respected ,and they were already in use in my previous active setup .
It’s difficult looking beyond or behind tonal differences to the musical difference .Tonal differences jump out , musical is more nuanced and challenging ( in my experience)
Oh sorry for the late reply. I forgot about your question but I have nothing profoundly new to say - just the usual stuff of making the sound more solid, realistic and layered.
I have a similar intrest albeit I am using the naim legacy set between 252/SC and the 350s.
I have contacted MG cables and TP for quotes for sets. No reply from either, even tried calling MG yesterday, phone not picked up. Examination of the legacy set shows essentially single ended cables with what looks like 1.0mm □ mains cable. Certainly nothing exotic.
My dealer has suggested trying some sets from Chord once the 350s and legacy set have bedded in- he said give it 2 to 3 months. Cant say I dislike anything with the legacy set, but a chance to test against something shouldn’t be dismissed.
When I had the NC 250 at home for 2 months, connected to my Ear Yoshino pre with the stock XLR, I then tried the Chord Signature tuned array. A nice and very obvious upgrade.
