That’s a relief. Many thanks.
HDX are good value. I had one and loved it
I had a CD5Si and it is a very nice CD player. When I got the ND5XS I thought that the sound quality was a fair bit superior. So I got the CDS2 with XPS which blew the CD5Si out of the water and the ND5XS. Many upgrades to sources then occurred!
But at around £1800 for the CDS2 and XPS, this is more than twice the OPs budget.
Now a happy owner of a CDS3 with XPS2.
That CDS2 with XPS was something special though. Possibly better than what I have now. Just seemed perfect!
Maybe one of the old Olive CDI, CD2 or CDX which don’t need power supplies would be within budget. They can be repaired but by specialists maybe outside of Naim.
But, if you want a black box and no hassle then go for a modern CD5Si or CD5 or CD5i.
Other option is CD 3.5 which can be upgraded with flatcap or hicap option. The same can be done with the CD5.
Lots of these players are well out of budget. I’ve seen Olive CD2 and CDX on eBay for the £750 mark.
Lots of options. Best of luck !
