Finished Season 3 of Narco’s last night. Ready to Start Narcos - Mexico. Really enjoyed the run although my Spanish has not improved! Also, I have crossed Columbia off my must-visit list :grinning:

My Daughter’s favourite QT film. Mine is Jackie Brown - the relationship between Robert Forster and Pam Grier just makes the whole film for me; romance Tarantino style…

Dogfight (1991) River Phoenix and Lili Taylor

A little gem that should be better known. A lovely Criterion Edition blu ray.

Blue Collar

Great cast - Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel and Yaphet Kotto

Direction and screen writing by Paul Schrader.

Music by Jack Nitzsche with a stonking open soundtrack song courtesy of Ry Cooder and Captain Beefheart.

Superb performances throughout.

In an interview, Paul Schrader said “I hired three bulls and asked them come into a china shop, and I promised each of those bulls that they would be the lead actor.” Each figured out soon enough that they weren’t the lead, and it led to chaos.

The actors argued constantly. There were fights, verbal abuse, walk-offs, and Mexican stand-offs. Paul Schrader nearly suffered a nervous breakdown holding the film together.

Listed by Spike Lee and Bruce Springsteen in their list of favourite films.

The 12th Man. An incredible True story about Jan Baalsrud, one of the 12 saboteurs sent in 1943 from England to occupied Northern Norway. Just the war film to watch when it’s cold outside and you’re safely tucked up indoors by a warm fire…

Prince of the City

Directed by Sidney Lumet it clocks in at just under 3 hours and that’s as long as it takes for the film to unravel.

TV Series from 1991–1992 filmed in and around Bognor Regis.

Stars Tom Bell, Holly Aird and Eamon Boland.

When her mother dies, independent but unemployed Jace goes to live with her cantankerous godfather who runs a dilapidated wax museum in a seedy English seaside resort.

Interesting black comedy series about loneliness and vulnerability.

Pedant’s Corner. They left from the Shetland Isles. Not only is this not part of England, the locals don’t see themselves as being part of Scotland.

Good point. I know what you mean here - my step-mother’s family are from Shetland and fiercely proud of it!

Vanilla Sky

I think I hadn’t watched this disc in 20 years. I know a lot of people hated this movie but I always thought it superbly well done. And 23 years since it’s release hasn’t diminished it’s excellence in my view.

I just got my 4K HDR version on disc yesterday! It is a great racing movie.

Slightly disappointed with this; a slight story that I am sure is trying to say something deeper. Some amusing craic but the stubbornness of the men was a bit ridiculous. Fabulous scenery though. 6/10.

‘ All of Us Strangers’. A Christmas Ghost story?.. if ‘Die Hard’ counts as a christmas film then maybe…

I really enjoyed the first part of this superb sci-fi thriller. Part Two is almost – but not quite – as good, with great performances by Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy; Mr Blunt, John Krasinsky, directs again and does a good job, though this time there’s a greater emphasis on action and whizz-bang FX rather than the nerve-jangling tension of the OG movie. Some great little directorial touches though - look out for 'em.
