Molly Bloom - 100% excellent.
A Michael Winner spy double cross action thriller.
A good old fashioned film that has an understandable plot with not too many holes. Burt huffs and puffs,Alain takes it easy and Scofield is your Russian. Some other good cameos.
Decent print on Prime.
Just now available to stream as a rental is the delightfully sad, but ultimately uplifting “Ballad of Wallis Island”. This is the UK trailer. We loved it.
Abduction - Prime. Sci-fi, wooden acting by cardboard characters, screenplay by infants, garbage soundtrack. Good money wasted on 3rd rate production of zero cultural orentrtainment purpose. Maybe it was a way to keep the unemployment figures low that month of production.
Extinction - Prime. Another Sci-fi flop but this time the actors specialise In slow motion & lots of blank staring in face of the end of the world caused by giant alien succulent, extraterrestrials, lots of black smoke & a scientifically precocious young child subjected to child abuse.
At least the end of the world would put a stop to the production of this type of cinematic tosh.
Superb
Hey big spender!
I watched my Blu-Ray copy of Bob Fosse’s first movie, “Sweet Charity” yesterday.
The dance numbers are amazing, as is expected from Bob Fosse. The movie is quite enjoyable, although it does run a little long in some places. Still, it gets my recommendation.
The movie is worth watching just for this dance number:
Brilliant!
The first 50 minutes, that is as long as we lasted. We found the scenes shallow and unconvincing and the acting was not to our liking either.
Well done your prize will be posted to you soon.
Well it’s here. If I really had to choose my favourite film of all time, bearing in mind the effect it had on me as a kid, it would be this. I’ve waited a very long time for a hdr 4K of this to be made and I’m very grateful to Arrow. Well, I hope I am, I haven’t watched it yet. This film is it.
Ooh, how come you got yours already? Mine says not out until the 11th…
I don’t know, I just pre-ordered from Arrow. I presumed everyone had it today or so.
Two warnings for everyone. Though I think judging a “book” [film] by it’s cover would serve everyone well here.
My Oxford Year
Truly dire. Made it 15 mins in and gave up. Absolutely certain it was written by AI. It’s sort of semi offensive to my eyes, intelligence, and the city of my birth. 1/10
Happy Gilmore 2
Let’s be honest, the first one was dire and why anyone would sit through part 2 unless they had a bout of insomnia is beyond me. I’d have been ashamed to be an extra in this garbage. 2/10.
I don’t think any rational person would actually hit the play button on either of those but just in case, steer well clear.
Watched the film now and it’s absolutely superb. Colours are stunning, crisp with sharp grain and loads of highlight detail captured by the HDR. The sound is offered in newly remastered mono and 5.1. The 5.1 sounds way better on my gear, allowing the subwoofer to do its job better and all without sounding like it 5.1. You have the option of the theatrical and extended releases. I watched the extended release and whilst it’s good to have the film go on longer, I did feel that the additional scenes with the old actors’ voices dubbed-in, in 2003, a bit distracting.
