I see it is free on Prime. I shall watch tomorrow night and hope it’s a decent copy.

My odd ball today was Frances Ha.
Greta Gerwig and Adam Driver.
Amazing indie energy. A young, homeless woman’s adventures in New York.

If you enjoyed Woody Allen’s Manhattan give it a whirl.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow a great favourite and written by her then husband James Cameron who is not a great favourite.
It was not popular at the release and just watch uk has no streaming offers. But it has risen to that elusive ‘cult’ status
By the year 2000 you were able to download emotions and actions from your cerebral cortex to tape. Your imagination will tell you the most popular.
RF is an ex policeman who bumps along buying and selling tapes until he comes across one that puts him in serious danger.
Well written script which makes clear a difficult subject. Bluray picture a bit grungy but worth the £5. I paid for it.

This has long been one of my all time favourites. And despite being an action movie, probably one of the best performances of Ralph Fiennes career and so completely different from anything he did before or after. Actually it was probably a career best for Angela Basset, Juliet Lewis and Michael Wincot too. As you said, on release straight to video under the radar.

Cameron never wrote anything as good before or since.

I had it on Laserdisc when it was first released.

The soundtrack is incredible too.

My wife and I both liked it at the time. Good movie.

Bit of a lark. Silly but good fun, 80’s style action throwback. Enjoyable.

What a fine actor Jennifer Lawrence has become.
Sent home from Afghanistan with serious brain injuries JL learns how to live again firstly with a wonderful carer and then back home with her not so wonderful mother.
She strikes up a relationship with an equally damaged vehicle mechanic ( fine performance from Bryan Tyree Henry)and they set about trying to chart a future for themselves.
Thoughtful, intelegent and opt to bring on the tears. Kleenex to hand.
On Apple or Prime.

Dail M for Murder

The only time I remember watching this previously was in the mid-70s, as a teenager. I thought it dragged. How perspectives change!

Yes, the stage provenance is clear to see, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ray Milland was workmanlike, Grace Kelly, radiant.

I failed to spot Hitchcock, but in so intimate a piece it is hard to see where he could insert himself.

Where did you find this Andy? Wow, this brings back so many memories. I remember going to the cinema when this came out with my dad & being a little bit scared by the scarecrow but wonderful film and a wonderful series of books by Russell Thorndike!

Dymchurch is just down the road from me and it’s great to see a lot of local landmarks like the church at Old Romney.

I picked it up from ebay for £6.99 just search the title. The seller was ‘another-world-games’. but I think it was available from others. Note you will get a DVD copy but the quality is absolutely outstanding. It is split into the four original Disney episodes and runs for around 2 hours.
