I ordered a Weiss DAC501. It will be here in about two weeks.
I can just see myself working in garden over summer with this and a stack of cd’s on the table, bluetooth speaker…
Yup I’ve found the recent addition of the Denon Dcd1700 has me playing more CDs than before and streaming less, so was thinking the same of just next to me on desk.
That’s a good plan ![]()
We speak end of the year, when you own full 300nc ![]()
I bought a new NAS ..Synology DS214+ and a pair of 4 TB Seagate Iron Wolf drives.
Hopefully I won’t have the same problems haven’t decided on this or okki nokki the latter is £100 more dunno if it’s worth it still gathering info on both good luck in your search and HAPPY NEW YEAR mate
Awaiting delivery of Origin Live Gravity Two record clamp.
for a REGA TT ?
I thought it was not at all advisable for a REGA.
Its going on a Technics TT but it isn’t a weight based clamp, it is “apparently” designed to reduce noise from the spindle, the review of it on the Ear said they had positive results across all turntables and one was a Rega 2.
I’ve got two Rega’s I can try it on, a P6 and an RP3. Previous experience of tweaks on these has shown Rega’s best left alone or just for the ones that Rega turn out.
My front line vinyl is via a couple of Technics, so if this is as good as reported I might get another for second deck in cabin. If any good on the Rega’s I’ll just use the one from the Technics in cabin, can’t listen to more than one TT at same time anyway.
The review is the most recent review in that section on The Ear’s website.
Yes, I’m sorry, I saw later in your profile that you had several turntables.
You are correct. I tried one on a P9 a few years back….totally destroyed the music.
No need to apologise, your point on Rega’s is well made and completely accurate in my experience. I went full on firm funk boing feet and acromat on my P3 and reversed it out pretty damn quickly, it was awful.
But then I did feel a bit stupid as putting suspension on a non suspended deck is completely at odds to Rega philosophy so was akin to dropping the suspension on a car and putting some paint tins on for an exhaust.
I have found considerable gains with Regas with their better belts and upgraded power supplies though (such as Neo to replace standard P3).
I’ll still give it a try and see what if anything it does.
I have the PRO-JECT VC-S2 ALU Record Cleaning Machine (the earlier model) and it works a treat. I think you can buy with confidence. I use Project’s own fluid which cleans the record, obviously, but kills static. My LP12 felt mat never sticks to records, it used to. Good luck ![]()
I’m considering a Uniti Star but they really seem to get mixed reviews. I have loads of CDs that I want to get back to playing but every time I think yes, I’ll get a Star, someone or something puts me off! Ho hum…
Holo Audio May KTE Dac has landed in Europe and will be making its way down to the Algarve over the next week. Also n a couple of weeks an electrician will fit a dedicated power line with Furtech sockets for the system. Very exciting.
Am about to try out a Weiss 204 against my Qutest
I thought the DAC204 with a Lumin U2 Mini streamer was about the equivalent of my NDX2/XPSDR. When I changed the digital coax cable to a better one (from an old Transparent High Performance 75 ohm to a Siltech Class Legend 380i) it improved to be just a little better the the Naim.
The 204 seems like pretty big bang for the buck. What streamer are going to use?
Zenith mk 3. Had a zen mk3 and got the Zenith on a good deal. Has been a nice step up. Am interested to see what the Weiss delivers versus the Chord.
I see. The DAC501-MK2 has an ethernet input supporting UPnP and Roon. I plan to use it as a Roon endpoint with no streamer on the front.
