Afternoon, happy Easter for those that celebrate it.
Wondering what the next logical upgrade path should be for my system.
Looks like a load of new equipment has come out which got me wondering if there was some older sweet spot equipment to get now before it becomes hard to find.
from what I’ve been reading the xs2 is good value for Money piece so should be ok for now? Guessing the nait si is the weak link? But which to upgrade to? Based in the uk and budget is <5k. Was reading about power supplies but is that possible or even worth it for that box .
I also replaced the klipsch with some audiovector s1 arrete but was too scared to get them out before. I also need to buy some decent floor stands. And figure out a way to stop the cat from wanting to jump onto them.
From what you’ve said I’m assuming you don’t want to invest any more in vinyl? That being the case £5k should get you a 2nd hand NDX2 and SN3, then just sit back and enjoy those Vectors!
yes I think that is the order of priority. I know my p1 one is the most basic and limiting of my Vinyl source. And I’d like to upgrade one day but in order of what I’d use most for now it is streaming.
It isn’t that old! Naim say that they can keep most things going long term - with exceptions such as CD players where the mechanisms are unavailable. The items that have been suggested to you are well built and of the highest quality so you can invest with confidence.
Pre/power - no. Like anything check, the service history though - depending on what you buy, may need it.
Streaming in the OC does have limits that the new stuff doesn’t. But if you’re happy with Tidal/Qobuz or streaming CDs from a NAS, an ND5XS/NDX/172/272 is great VFM.
S/H, a 200/202 or an XS3 would both set you back under c£2k, and a SN3 is a no regret move for £2k more. The integrated with the inbuilt phono stage may be just what doctor ordered.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I will look for an SN3 first followed but NDX2.
On a slight thread hi jack if I’m allowed I can’t work out how to configure the rooms With audio equipment / speakers. Layout below with where stuff is currently and where I’m thinking of putting the speakers. Not ideal but any other options?’
Could you have the speakers either side of window reveal with the listening position facing the window, in the middle of the room?
I suggest because in my listening room I sit on a sofa with a window right behind me. The bass can be a bit overbearing at times, but the problem disappears completely if I sit forward, so that there is a metre or so of air between my earholes and the surface behind me.
If you set up as I’m suggesting you’d be sitting facing the speakers, centrally (so as to get the best stereo image) and you wouldn’t have a reflective wall right behind you. You could set up your kit in the window reveal, centrally, so you could admire it while listening!
