They are made of 7,5 cm (2.9") thick acoustic foam.
Please note that their absorbing capacity is limited. So you can’t use only this to treat your room. You need something that absorbs lower in the spectrum.
Not sure if this really counts as buying gear, but I just sent away my 20 year old nac202 to be rebuilt along with the napsc. And I’m getting my snaic cables cryo treated. Now the hard part, the wait until they are ready to return home.
Ah!… the nac202! As u r having it rebuilt I assume it was underperforming- if so how did it sound ? What made u think it would benefit from a restoration?
Sometimes I think: is it imagination, because it should be an improvement, or is it really such a clear difference?
Did the Powerline on the Nova and I am fascinated.
Tonally everything is very much the same. The separation of voices and instruments has become much clearer and has more space and stage, which makes it more natural and bigger for me.
I’m listening to an old LP by Van Morrison right now, Avalon Sunset. I’ve never experienced the record like this before, perfect.
Have the Powerline connected directly to the wall and not to the power strip HMS Energia MKII Basic, as before the Audioquest Z3. But I will try that later.
It was sounding fine, unfortunately we had a storm the power went out and when it came back on. The 202 didn’t.
After doing some troubleshooting, the napsc failed and took the 202 with it. My amp is only 1 year old bought it new. So I should be set for a long time once it comes back.
Hi Nick
I have a 500R Airplug that I picked up very cheap (along with a 100R, part of the package). I’ve been meaning to get the 576 for ages - Peter’s recommendation for Krystal/Kandid I believe.
There is chat on this on the SL alternative thread. After advice there, I switched from standard 560R to 576R airplug. I reckoned the step up in quality improved quietness and space, if you see what I mean.
Even though 560R to 576R is a tiny step, it did seem to help the treble end of things so that the net balance is perhaps more neutral. You are making a bigger step in resistance but you already had an airplug (i.e. 1 change, not 2), so I’ll be interested in what you hear.
My net preference for powering from Hicap changed (just) to powering from 52 with the new plug. I have no idea why, but it s a repeatable choice. I think you already use a dedicated SC though, which is noticeably better than either of my power options, so I don’t think this bit will apply to you.
Yes, my SL is powered by SC2. Before that I preferred Aux2 to the HicapDR. It will interesting to hear what the 576R does. I’ve read lots of positives for its’ use with Linn MCs.
I will switch between SC2~Aux2 as part of the ‘experiment’ just to see. TBH, I could do with losing the SC2 for space reasons, but it did/does sound great so…
to Wayne at Cymbiosis who has been lovely in expediting my order, should be here very soon.
@Thomas, this is one hell of a picture! Do the predators in the boxes have to be sedated before the boxes are opened, the predators leave them and explore their new territory here?
