What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2022?

In some ways the pleasure is similar.

When the climbing is both intense and risky it becomes a sort of meditation. Movement and thought become one. Like a flow.

Music, a nice piano concerto, or a cello sonata, sometimes has the same effect on me, especially when I’m tired and let myself go.

Impressive Thomas, respect!

I think Thomas owes us a listening session vacation once his system is bolted down, I’ve been following that particular expedition with great interest, just a suggestion :relaxed::wave:t2:

How do you have 2 ‘media players’ with the same serial number?

The media player and accessories are a two box package. One box is for the player, the other contains the accessories for the player.

Thanks, I follow. Enjoy!

The weights are different on each box, something I did not initially notice.

Indeed, I still think their carabiners are the best. I may of course be biased as I used to sell their gear (and others) for a living, and their factory is 5 minutes from my house.
A friend of mine sold them his design for an ice axe some years ago. They put it into production and called it the Predator - it was the first axe to use a curved shaft design, ground breaking at the time, but I think things have moved on from there now.

Sorry…back to HiFi…my only purchase this year was a new rack

So do you remove levels as you get drunker and slip lower ? :wine_glass::blush:

Nothing so far, thankfully!

Does a couple of non working 1970’s cassette decks and a cheapo DAB radio count?

One more and final fraim level to go with the other, 6 standard height and 2 medium.
As i had to pinch one level for the dragon and put my dCS kit, back to stacked. Now i can once again separate them, clock then dac on top, plus both racks will once again become the same height

Very true. Especially through crevasse fields on your return. I remember a few trips where my better half / climbing partner would setup anchor as I’d take a run and jump to cross some of the more manageable bigger ones. A late afternoon return just spices it up some more. Prefer the 2am starts to avoid that situation though!

One of my most recent additions is this 1970s Teac A-6300 open reel deck. Quarter track, 3 3/4 & 7 1/2 ips, 10" reels, auto reverse. Very nice!

Today I found a NAP 200 at a dealer near Zurich and bought it.

I know exactly what you mean.
But sometimes, leaving early isn’t enough.

I took a friend to climb the Grand Capucin (Mont Blanc massif).

Unfortunately, he lacked experience and climbed slowly. The climb was slow. The 13 rappels were slow… In short, we ended up on the glacier at 11pm, on a dark night. Fortunately, I knew the glacier well, so we were able to return safely.

Sometimes :poop: happens

A nice memory, though.
