What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2024?

Changing leads is a dealer job for mine as they come from the internal Urika 1. For me I would rather stay put unless I make any changes to it. It’s all like new. They only thing that remains now from when I bought it is the top plate and plinth.

I am pleased for you Mike. LP12s are great turntables. Is it finished now? Or would you consider further changes to your LP12?

That’s why I think you should stay put. In my view a listening room/lounge is a living space more than a hifi room so best not to over dominate it. Especially if you already have a very good pair of speakers :+1:

I should really say yes, but you never know what life will bring :sunglasses:. The Linn dealers here are running a 20% sale from today as it happens….

This year is having a few life challenges, “doing a Dan” could be tempting :joy::joy:

My living room is very much a listening room.

You make me laugh. You try to persuade me to buy them. And now you try to persuade me not to. :muscle:

20% is a decent discount. But to change it all out is still very costly. It’s a big decision to make.

With your set up and you do one upgrade only it would be Radikal 2 Klimax and possibly Urika 1 in same hit.

Trying it between 333:332.

Cartridge maybe first ?

I know! I must admit I felt bad about trying to persuade you when I then realised how big they are and that you were about to have your op! All that aside, I think the speaker cable upgrade genuinely is the better decision.

Never under estimate what a better cart can do! Used carts can be good way of doing things too.

I feel that Mike’s weak link is the cart now. OT OC9 ML . The risk is to not listen anymore to the Nd555, if the albums are from the analogue erea

I have said that before and suggested a better cart but Mike was insistent that cart was good as it is.

A Dynavector XX2 Mk11 would work well.

I have Sarum T connecting nd555/2555ps to 552 @What_Are_You_To_Me
When I first had the sarumT, it connected cds2/xps Olive to a 52.
The power supply was nearing recap time. With these boxes the sound wasn’t any good. Too sterile, like soap opera effect if u get me.
When I changed xps Olive to xpsdr old classic, the sound improved dramatically.
I think this reflects that the Sarum was too revealing on my “weaker” source.
You have ndx2 if I understand…. The Sarum T may be revealing your source.
A XPSDr would likely make u appreciate the Sarum cable.
Still that’s another expense, so if not planning for a power supply for your ndx2, then selling the Sarum makes sense

Yeah, even with a 20% discount, any upgrade above the Seleck level is very expensive, so I’m best to stick with my current two great sure setups. I can’t be bothered with swapping out a perfectly good MC cart either.

You’re very happy with it as it is. That was also your goal and you’re sticking to it. Good for you!

You’re right @davidf, I believe @What_Are_You_To_Me is planning on buying a 555PSDR when the right one comes up/funds permit that situation. With the 252 Supercap DR and 300DR the lack of power supply on the NDX2 is the weakness, not the cables.

He should therefore keep the Sarum T

I believe he has full Sarum T loom.

Maybe get an XPSDR for £2k and leave the 555PSDR. Unless he can get the 555PSDR on auction at the moment for a good price.

@What_Are_You_To_Me, maybe hang fire on selling the Sarum T as you have full loom. Many say it’s better than Superlumina.

I’d get 555dr over xpsdr if budget allows
I’ve had both with ndx2
No contest

Thanks both, there’s one on auction at the moment that I’m following closely. There has been a few available over the last couple weeks and they’ve been very popular so I doubt I’ll win, but let’s see :crossed_fingers:
