What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2025?

It’s here…

A Shunyata Everest 8000, Shunyata Sigma-X XC and a Sigma-X NR.

Considering I recently added the Esoteric Grandioso C1X Solo pre and have the Grandioso N1 and PS1 PSU on the way I figured it was time to upgrade from my PS Audio Power Plant 3.

The Sigma-X XC is specifically for between the wall and the Everest and the Sigma-X NR is plugged into the C1X Solo. Absolute monsters they are but quite flexible nonetheless.

While the Everest is ex-display the Sigmas are new so I’ll be giving everything 100 hours or so before any real listening.

Exciting times. Oh, and before anyone asks, no, the 300DR is still plugged directly into the wall. Now I have read that the Everest can take power amps and shouldn’t restrict dynamics but for now I’ll leave the 300DR where it is. When the N1 arrives and everything is well and truly run-in maybe then I’ll hook it up to the Everest and see if it makes things better or worse.

The correct main cable has arrived, so the Isotek V5 Sirius is in action…

Not so long ago I was contemplating posting a pic of an Auralic Aries G2.2 on here…

Shan’t bother now!

That’s really sad news. The AURALiC Mini was my first product from them and it was so much better than its price suggested. Had a Vega S1 briefly that was also very good. Hope there is some kind of support for current owners.

It may be true, but that is an opinion piece with no confirmation from the manufacturer. Merely conjecture and 50/50 chance of being correct.[quote=“badlyread, post:3670, topic:38349, full:true”]

Which essentially translates as ‘Auralic is kaput, we’re looking at next steps…But Dynaudio is a nice brand!’

No idea what this could mean for long term Auralic users but this, together with past/ongoing issues green screen era Naim, suggests I will be wary of plonking down substantial sums on streamer related products in the future…

I wonder what Auralic’s UK dealers will do with their stock: fire sale to cut their losses, or resist discounting in the hope there is a “phoenix from the ashes” event.

I guess they will wait for while but start selling at their cost price asap. Its money tied up.

Who’s going to buy them?

Me, at a knock down price

That’s a serious piece of kit

I might as well try selling the IBM Os/2 diskettes I’ve found in the loft.

Hopefully another audio firm will buy them and sustain their products with firmware. Marantz struggled and are now okay. Let’s wait and see what happens.

AI seems confused. Where did the source information come from? Auralic themselves claim on their www that they stopped sales to the US due to the tariffs. Oh the beautiful tariffs..

Feel really bad for Auralic’s customers. They seemed like fine products. At the Axpona audio show a few years back i heard their front end driving some large ATC’s active in a huge room and it sounded great. However…i remember thinking…boy if Naim’s front end (preamp, streamer) were driving these speakers it would be even better!
