Is the look to your liking then? Big difference compared to Naim’s discreet and stripped-down design..
Hi again,
I’ve not had the time to remove the Qbase, so can’t comment form the view of my system, but it’s just been nominated as AC power product of the year by one of the big audio mags. It’s probably against the site norms to copy-paste what they said, so I won’t, but I am sure you can quickly find it with a small search.
At first for a few months ,when looking at picture , and utube , the look don’t really appeal to me . I googled and read on how it sound and what owners had said about them . So I decided to make a move. And upon looking at the amp (the integrated amp) in real life , and was going through the details and the build and the finishes , it feels very different looking at it real life vs picture/utube . It’s like looking at a Pagani interior , to me ..
then we go into the demo. That’s where the look of it doesn’t MATTEr anymore , it appeals to me slowly and gaining the love of the amp after spending 5 hours in the showroom . The HUGE mono blocs, that look , I can’t accept .. the smaller brothers are fine .
Hi @Cemil, don’t worry, no rush at all.
Yes, I’ve seen that nomination, it’s been a while if I’m not mistaken. I’ve heard the QBase in a system but can’t comment as I haven’t heard the same system without it (and the system itself didn’t really impress me).
If anytime you travel to Singapore , I bring you to the nordost retail and let you demo ALL the Nordost products .. be prepare to spend a few hours !!
It’s a bit out of reach lol, but I’d love to have such an experience without a doubt. Thanks for the offer @naimophile
Anytime , in Singapore , all high end brands are under one roof, in a mall. Very convenient to see all at one go ..
That’s very conveniente. If only there were malls like that here in Europe… I would start to enjoy malls too!
Europe is huge .. Singapore is only an island . So all will “cramp” into one mall .. hence the convenience
That’s an explanation, I didn’t consider that. Maybe a trend should be started here as well… Malls only for audiophiles. I wonder what would happen with all the shops under one roof…
An extra Fraimlite shelf and a few bits and bolts to make a “Fraim-style” double base. Not that it really changes anything, but at least the shelf doesn’t stay unused until the day that an extra black box might appear .
Thank you for posting a picture of some gear you actually bought recently and for telling us all about it!
Got another Valhalla power cord , a very authentic ACTUAL product ,ACTUAL picture . Dealer was good to let me have it, in preparation for my DAgostino , future proof
I am not so sure now. I heard the Gryphon 333 yesterday, with the same speakers. It’s another amp. More crisp, tight bass, impressive bass …organic and soft. Wonderful. The 300 sounded clearly more hifi and less textured, less holographic and full.
I’ve always thought that FramLite looks much nicer with dual base, well done.
You can’t resist Nordost
One of these, a Wiim pro plus
This is to use with my system in the lounge of
and
* The Missions double up as stands for the Sony Atmos speakers.
I had had some idiot idea of getting active AE1 speakers and an Eversolo streamer. Fortunately, sense prevailed, and I picked up the Wiim from Richer Sounds for a far less princely sum of £179.
I mostly used my phone to play via a micro usb to two phono input. This little unit enables me to stream from my phone without it being tethered to the Sharp stereo.
It is quite adequate for our lounge, and I am very pleased with the Wiim, I must say.
