What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2026?

A pair of Rel t5x subs should be ready for collection on Monday. Exactly what Rel recommends via their speaker matching tool for my SCM20asl speakers in a small room for music.

I agree, looks really smart and upper tiers get a floating effect.

Looks (and no doubt sounds) great. Nice to see more Kantas too.

I bought the Mogami 2549 out of curiosity to see how it would sound compared to my Chord Shawline.

Well executed cables like Mogami, Canare, and Belden and among others, are all that’s needed to transfer signals between components without degradation. You can spend exponentially more (I learned the hard way) and all you’ll get is a slightly different presentation.

I went through a lot of cables and ultimately reached the same conclusion, so I completely agree with you. Mogami was perhaps the final touch that convinced me. I also watched a video by a well-known reviewer who scientifically compared several interconnects—including a top-tier Chord model and the Mogami 2549—and the differences in sound were negligible.

It looks great!

Ordered preloved Ansuz Diamond XLRs to go between Bricasti M12 and Luxman 509z.

I want to replace my Nordost Tyr 2. The Nordost is very spatial, fast and engaging. It is fantastic for classic, jazz and techno. But in my system it does not work so well with voices. They have a subtle sibilance from time to time. It is subtle and not with every song. But still it is distracting. I hope that the Ansuz D have the positive properties of the Tyr2 but are a bit more organic and smooth with voices.

Will see next week.

@frenchrooster i know that you have AQ Pegasus. They were also on my shortlist. All my previous AQ cables ( lesser tier than Pegasus) worked fantastic with voices. Really miss those voice ghoose-bump moments i had with AQ cables. But the Ansuz D deal was very good and so I thought i give it a try..

Slightly? Recently i went from Chord signature XLR to Audioquest Pegasus. I let it only 1 hour running, before listening. Not subtle difference, the 10 seconds were enough.

But sometimes the cheaper works better, but i can’t say as you that much more expensive give always just a minor difference.

What I liked is that it gave weight and groove, and better bass. Nice tones too.

Beautiful setup! Those REL’s give off a serious Marty McFly vibe. Never seen this before, I checked the REL website but the theory behind it is not really clear to me. Doesn’t adding so much more low frequency throw the off the overall balance?

No, it doesn’t throw of the balance. It makes it better. This is not about more bass, it’s about better bass and more importantly space, soundstage and realism.

To put numbers on it. When I had just the two subs, I had my gain set to about 12 clicks from zero. Now with the six subs (three per pair), the gain settings (bottom up) are 5, 3, and 6 for a total of 14. However, the top two pairs of subs are crossed over much higher. Only the bottom pair have the crossover setting of the original two-pack. So there isn’t really [much] more bass output in terms of gain.

These six-pack line arrays are the real deal. Once you’ve heard one properly setup and tuned you can’t unhear the effect. I cannot turn my subs off. If I do I feel like I’ve downgraded significantly and music sounds flat and lifeless by comparison.

A stageline n. It’s powered by the Supernaits Aux.

I bought this adapter between the upper midrange and tweeter. Developed by the same enthusiasts that made the horn. It is in aluminium and anodised. Fit and finish is very good.

This was made in one stereo pair to test the tweeter position. I will use a passive crossover between these two drivers when I will use the system.

This was the final edition of the previous owner.

What is it replacing? I upgraded from Rega Fono MM recently when I bought my P6 / Nd7 and given the lack of enthusiasm on the forum, I figured a Stageline would be a lateral move at best but I didn’t actually test it.

Hi Bouda, perhaps you remember that we had a short conversation a few weeks ago about the SuperNait 1 and the NDAC. I did intend to buy and NDAC but then found an LP12 for sale which was too good to let it pass. So I bought the LP12 which I intend to keep, use and maintain the rest of my life - the NDAC will come later. The reason for the Stageline is that it can be powered from the SuperNait so it will save me the hassle of an extra power supply, grounding and all that. It just works. Can it be improved on? I’m sure it can and perhaps for not too much money. For now a good service or perhaps rebuild of the LP12 will likely add more to the sound quality since it’s an oldie which was carefully maintained by the previous owner. The element is still an original K5 and these are old too. Perhaps a new element on top of the service is the way too go. First I need to save some pennies in the hifi allowance from my better half though …

Mine was the fiio Warmer R2R ladder DAC. It’s doing exactly what I need it to do with taming the slightly forward sound from my amp and speakers.

Congrats with the LP12, sounds like a fun project that will keep you busy for a while - the nDAC will have to wait  I have the same experience that the phono stage does seem to have much less influence than deck, arm and cartridge. I might give a s/h Stageline a try.
